You are Wrong.

The Xenon XT is powered by the widely accepted 2.2 VTT DICOR diesel engine with a peak power of 140 PS and a peak torque of 320 Nm. It has a 4X4 with an electrical shift-on-the-fly mechanism and a limited slip differential similar to the Safari. These, combined with a rugged ladder frame structure, a matching suspension and alloy wheels give the vehicle off road capabilities of an SUV. The load bed is a 1518 mm x 1414 mm area which lends itself to carrying equipment or having fun, as desired.

The Xenon XT is priced at Rs. 7.62 lacs for the 4x2 version and Rs. 8.58 lacs for the 4x4 version, ex showroom Delhi.

Oh! The earlier report on a blog mentioned 3 Ltr engines Guess they got the facts wrong. Now, it seems a bit more bang for the buck.

I think the pricing is reasonable. In-line with the Sumo grande as I had indicated in some of my earlier posts.

Sad, because this IS a recreational pickup in this market at the price point it sells. Agreed that the price is reasonable, but nobody is going to use it for any serious load-carrying purposes.

Still, its a good option for those looking for some offroading ability AND the practical utility of carrying passengers in a certain degree of comfort.

Any test rides yet? I bet SUV has already placed his order - he was waiting for this one to be launched.

In our state, if it is going to be privately registered and it carries load, it is going to attract the attention of our law enforcers of various departments. And if it is yellow board, every self respecting commercial taxes officer would want to check the load.

I have a 1997 Tatamobile double cab with private registration which we have been using in the estates in Kerala for 12 years and have not been bothered by any tax officers. My tatamobile has 160000 kms and hence I want to upgrade to the Xenon. If you have the commercial registration with the yellow color front and back you will get stoped as you correctly pointed out.

Just checked the website xenon.tatamotors.com. Both the engines are available. The 3 ltr and the 2.2 ltr 140 BHP with 320 Nm of torque.

The car is available for private number plates as well.

3 Ltr is only for export markets. Indian version comes only with the 2.2 ltr. This is their global website for the Xenon and that is why you see both engines as available. It is currently for sale in South Africa with the 3 Ltr engine.

That front bumper makes the vehicle look really plain and characterless - bland and slab-sided are the right words. I'm sure someone with a bit of imagination can make it look a lot better.

IMO the best Tata vehicle till date as far as fit and finish is concerned. I really liked the looks of this vehicle and the price seems to be quite reasonable.

The pricing is sensible for this pickup, but same as earlier, TATA had the TL in the same bracket, and than reduced the prices, a wait of another 2 months will give good deals on this one too. Looking at Track record of such segment.
The Canopy version looks good. For once a factory option that looks good from any manufacturer.
For once now the showroom guys will be able to give me an answer, I hope they get demo vehicles soon.

Fix a number plate in the middle . (It looks like I have gotten into too many bumper discussions lately)

Price ex-showroom Chennai for EX4x4 is Rs. 8,63,910/-
I think this is a pretty good price, for such a vehicle.
Kudos to Tata for such excellent pricing .

It's a pity that they dont offer a choice of Blue colour.
