Electronic City - Best option, traffic split between north & south halves, plus a lot of migrant population (IT / Software, Startups & techparks) resides from BTM > HSR > Kormangla > Sarjhapur > Marathalli > Whitefield will be served with E-city location

Again the demography does not support that (lesser population density, lesser volume of travellers from that area)

I fully concur with this. Instead of building a separate airport altogether, it will far beneficial to look at the existing infrastructure to augment the assumed traffic increase. I am sure when the KIAL was mooted, designers would have anticipated the traffic and designed it accordingly. Adding a new airport will indirectly hit the common man in the name of increased taxes and cesses, add to that dug up roads and then there will metro thoughts which will be nothing but royal harassment and frustration. I am not in the favour of new airport.

Honestly, we need 2 airports if we are looking at long term. It will take 10 years at least from planning to start of operations. An airport in Hosur and another around Magadi would be nice. Magadi airport will serve extended regions of Mysore and Tumkur and will spur development towards both (like San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland airports in the Bay Area), provided we have good connectivity from both. Or we expand BIAL and build good connectivity options including rial, metro and road.

If everything comes up in the south, people from north and central Karnataka would face difficulties travelling. That's why the new airport should come between Tumkur and Sira because those from Mysore already have a direct bus to KIAL and Mysore already has a domestic airport. Let Tamil Nadu build an airport at Hosur that would help in decongesting air traffic. Why should every development be done keeping IT folks in mind?

Between E-City and Hosur airports, it will simply be a massive first mover advantage to the airport that comes first.

Hosur is already benefitting from proximity to Bangalore. An airport will simply make it leagues ahead from what it is today. And it all depends on which govt is aggressive - we certainly won't have one airport in E-City and one in Hosur.

I'd personally prefer an airport in Hosur - entire south, west and east Bangalore can benefit and ensure competition between the airports (and states too).

But wherever they build an airport, they should build fast, cheap connectivity first - High Speed Metro. I'd hate to pay 2000 taxi fare for a 4000 air ticket.

From E-City they should build a 10 lane elevated express way plus train track to existing airport. They can even encircle the city with this. It will be much much cheaper than a new airport with additional runways.

Out of all the sites selected by KIADB for the second airport, The most stand out location has to be Harohalli, Ramanagara. This area has vast land fit for Aviation purpose and is well connected to the city . The New STRR under development here can be designed to cater to the increased airport traffic. This is also very close to Anekal , E-city, South Bangalore , With proposed extension of green line to Harohalli it can be easily accessed by Metro aswell!

Another thing to note is this will be close to Mysore acting as a bridge airport between two cities.

And since STRR is still in land acquisition stage here, Its very easy for GOVT to plan the STRR to meet airport needs, One stone two problems solved!

So I feel the Harohalli , Ramanagar should be in all a better choice to locate the second Airport for Bengaluru. This makes one Airport in the North and One in the South!

Only if the govt view it as rationally as we can. Hope infrastructure decisions, which have far reaching implications for the state, are not left to the whims and greed of few politicians who only want to launch fancy projects to increase their wealth and clout at the cost of public

KIAL has RoFR till 2033 but after that it's a free for all. With Adani, Zurich Airports, Fairfax and GMR in the fray, it should lead to an interesting PPP venture.

It does not need another airport. Rather, the current KIA can have it's capacity increased with another terminal. There is no scarcity of land, unlike current HAL airport and the CSIA in Mumbai(already has a strained capacity because of cross runways rather than parallel runways at KIA and NMIA)

As someone who moved out of Bangalore (despite loving my time there) mostly for reasons related to lack of infra/quality of life, I think I can weigh in with an opinion here: build it in Bangalore. Anywhere really but in the city, not halfway to Hyderabad where it takes more time to reach your destination from the airport than it it does to fly in from most cities in India.
