The FAT 4x4 and GTV 6x6 are designed for two artillery guns in the forward areas. The FAT 4x4 is capable of hauling light guns, while the GTV 6x6 can tow medium artillery guns over unforgiving terrain. According to Ashok Leyland, the vehicles will be delivered to the Indian Army over the next 12 months.

Ashok Leyland is one of the major players in the defence sector. The company has invested in the development of several platforms including 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x10 and even 12x12 to cater to the operational requirements of the Indian Armed Forces. These have been designed and developed indigenously and are manufactured in India.
