Re: Go First Airlines files for bankruptcy

Akasa soon to be sent to cleaners as well.

https://www.business-standard.com/co...1901104_1.html

So this was the reason behind sudden cancellations in August during peak onam season this year, and successive September bookings which were cancelled as well.

Article is behind a paywall, but Akasa is suing 43 pilots in Bombay Hi Court for damages because they've suddenly left to join AI express who operate a B737 fleet primarily, the same type operated by Akasa.

2nd petition in Delhi Hi Court pushing for Dgca to act on a resignation/notice period case which the 2 pilot unions in India have already admitted in the same court.

The airline's plight is also apparent due to the fact that the civil aviation minister who talks a lot but has nothing to show for, plainly ignored Akasa's plea's for intervention, forcing them to go to court and declare they may shut down soon.

Standard fare since Go First tried the same by declaring Bankruptcy.

Probably AI express may end up getting Akasa's 20 planes soon. Wish Akasa had a Airbus fleet, Go First pilots would've enmass joined them once they went down.

He has a decent business in steel & power he should stick to that and not do a Mallya on himself. He has a fascination of things aviation and once even organized a ride for himself in the F-16's twin seat trainer variant.

Not a good time for aviation in India. Go Air, SpiceJet, Akasa Air all staring at massive losses to shutdowns. What is the aviation minister doing to steer through these losses? Wasn't this supposed to be a business friendly government? How is it that the maximum business going belly up happened in the past 5 years?

Re: Go First Airlines files for bankruptcy

Airline businesses are one of the most difficult businesses to run in the world. And situation in India adds more complexities making it more difficult to run a profitable business.

The complexities are
1. Taxes on ATF are high as compared to other countries. European union doesn't even tax ATF.
2. Very robust rail network with good connectivity. Launch of trains like Vande Bharat has increased the competition much more.
3. Road transport is improving by the day with the advent of new expressways. Nullifying the need of short distance flights

If one would go thru THIS same thread (Go First Airlines files for bankruptcy) itself, one would get the answer(s)!

Airline industry [IN INDIA] is a complex one with lots of nuances involved, as long as it's a small fish like Go (unlike Indigo/Tata), their bargaining power with OEMs is negligible.

But hey, who cares! Let's blame the sarkar - what's GoI doing, if they can't make "Go" successful !?

The brothers are in reality polished gundas, totally unsuitable for running a business. As was that fugitive who was only interested in living life king-size destroying the lives of umpteen families. While there are a lot of suitable princelings, these examples are definitely not. With power there should be responsibility.
