Re: Which Aircraft have you flown in as a passenger?

Interestingly the first flight in life was;
Airbus A340 - Turkish Airlines

Post which all regular aircrafts:
- Boeing 737 both NG and MAX (Jet Airways, Spicejet, Flydubai, Air Europa, Malindo Air). (Malindo 737 looked quite refreshing from inside.)
- Airbus A320 and A321 (Indigo, Air Arabia, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, Air India Express, Saudia, Aegean Air)
- Airbus A330 (Etihad, Saudia)
- Airbus 777 (Air India, Jet Airways, Emirates, Kuwait Airways) (Kuwait Airways has one of the most spacious layouts I have ever seen.)
- Boeing 747 (Kuwait Airways) (Had an old school and congested seating layout having seats still having ashtrays. but the takeoff and flying speed was an experience which is rare today.)
- Boeing 787 Dreamliner (Saudia, Etihad, Oman Air)
- Airbus A380 (obviously Emirates)
- ATR72 (Jet Airways, Aegean Air)

Highlight:
- MI17 Ex Army Version in Georgia. It is like an off roading in flying No Ac, only air vents for circulation, window opening, but can fly between mountains like a pro and can land anywhere - literally from mountains to riverbeds to snow.....

Re: Which Aircraft have you flown in as a passenger?

Sir, this is a topic which only you could have thought about and complied.

I had never ever thought about something like this, uptil now.

The earliest flight I can recall is probably a flight on a Vayudoot Avro. As probably a 7-8 year old kid viewing it for the first time, I still remember being told name(type) of the aircraft as Avro while it was parked on the tarmac at Keshod Airport, waiting for the passengers to embark on it's return flight to Bombay.

The flights on those old turboprops were always "interesting", especially in bad weather. Years later now I call it interesting, but it was genuinely scary then. I had this hobby during childhood to collect airline baggage tags, boarding passes and making drawings of the aircraft I flew on. Sadly over time, I gave up on it and they got lost.

Most of my other flights were with Jet Airways from mid-90s onwards till their shut down. They used to be our preferred airline because of their service and the convenient connecting flights they operated.

So, here's my list

Boeing 737-200 : Indian Airlines, East West Airlines
Boeing 737-400 : Jet Airways
Boeing 737-700 : Jet Airways, JetLite, Jetkonnect
Boeing 737-800 : Jet Airways, JetLite, Jetkonnect, Spicejet
Boeing 737-900 : Jetkonnect

Airbus A300 : Indian Airlines
Airbus A319 : Indian, Air India
Airbus A320(CEO, NEO) : Indian Airlines, Air India, Indigo, Air Deccan
Airbus A321(CEO) : Air India

ATR-72-500 : Jet Airways
ATR-72-600 : Jetkonnect, Indigo

BAe/HAL HS.748 : Vayudoot, Indian Airlines

Fokker F.27 : East West Airlines, Indian Airlines, NEPC Airlines

HAL/Dornier Do.228 : Vayudoot

Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 : Spicejet

Beech 1900 : Gujarat Airways

Re: Which Aircraft have you flown in as a passenger?

During my school days I was part of NCC's Air Force wing and even before that I used to be fascinated by aircrafts and helicopters. So whenever I am taking a flight I do keep in mind to check my plane's model, take a seat near the wing and observe the flaps and ailerons in action, and check the engine while boarding. That being said, here is the list of aircrafts I have flown in as a passenger-

(Private)
Beechcraft Premier 1A
Beechcraft Super King Air B-200
Hawker 900 XP
Bell 230
Chetak

(Commercial)
Airbus A-320 Neo (Indigo & Go First)
Boeing 737-8 (Jet Airways)
Boeing 737-9 (Spice Jet)

Re: Which Aircraft have you flown in as a passenger?

Thank you sir for inspiring us to do more, to be more aware, enjoy things and explore more. Thanks for giving youngsters like me a chance to be aware of experiences which we miss based on our (perceived) lack of time/convenience. I do not know much about the flights that I have flied on but this gives me a chance to think about the same and broaden my horizon (not just about flights but just to think of what kind of a job/career you may be having to travel so much (and which we should be looking out for, in our own way), while most of us are happy working from home or doing a 9-5 at office.

I have nothing to contribute here in terms of a list but loads to take from and understand the differences and hopefully, contribute to such threads in the future. Thanks to you and to this forum for helping us learn more.

Re: Which Aircraft have you flown in as a passenger?

To be honest, I am not much into flying at all though I have done a fair amount air travel. The big commercial planes all look generic to me - like business hotels. You stay in one business hotel, you have stayed in all. Or at least, that's my level of perception. However, I really get excited to travel to small towns by small aircrafts even though I am scared of safety aspects in the back of my mind. You basically get down from the aircraft and step into your car (well almost) like a billionaire Few such lovely experiences (unfortunately I have no clue about the aircrafts):

Lukla (Nepal):

Waiting for your ride can never be cooler than this:

Of course, flying low is the best

Re: Which Aircraft have you flown in as a passenger?

Hmm Interesting thread from V.Narayan as always .
Here's my little list -

Airbus A330-300
Airbus A340-300
Airbus A320 / 321 / 320 NEO
Airbus A380

Boeing 737-400
Boeing 737-800
Boeing 767-300
Boeing 777-300
Boeing 787-8

ATR-72-500

It seems the chances of flying the B747-400/8 - are now zero given I don't foresee any international travel in immediate future. They seem to be getting pulled out way too fast. One wish that will probably remain unfulfilled.

Re: Which Aircraft have you flown in as a passenger?

In MS Flight Simulator many aircrafts!

In real world as passenger have not flown much,

Air India A319, A320.

Delta B767, B757 - During B757 flight out of Atlanta USA while taxing, saw Airforce One B747 parked at remote bay, POTUS was on official visit.

Air France A340 - This was my first flight across Atlantic and still remember flying over Canada and looking at CN tower from cruising altitude. It looked like a needle with snow all around. Same time we had some turbulence resulting in wings with those quad engines flapping like a bird. Bit scarry, however, puts into perspective our place on Earth.

Lufthansa B747-400 - I had purposely chosen to fly Lufthansa, since they were operating B747 from Mumbai and beyond to US. This is just after the 2006 football world cup in Germany and the aircraft with tail number D-ABTH had its nose painted as football.

Spice Jet - B737, B737 Max, Dash8 Q400

Jet Airways - B737, ATR72

Indigo, Vistara - A320, A320 Neo

Digressing a bit, I track aircraft's using FlightRadar24, happen to stay in alignment of Pune airport runway, so if aircrafts are landing at runway-10 (West to East) they pass right overhead and is always a good sight and sound.

Re: Which Aircraft have you flown in as a passenger?

Here are the aircrafts that I was fortunate enough to fly in.

Airbus
  • H130 (Corail Helicopters)
  • A220 (Air Austral)
  • A319 (Air India)
  • A320 (Air India, Indigo, Pegasus, Vueling)
  • A321 (Air India)
  • A330 (Turkish Airlines, Qatar, Air Mauritius)
  • A380 (Emirates)

Boeing
  • B737-800/900 (SpiceJet, Jet Airways, Norwegian, RyanAir)
  • B777-200/300/ER/LR (Emirates, Qatar, Turkish Airlines)

Bombardier
  • Q400 'Dash 8' (SpiceJet)

ATR
  • ATR-72 (Air India, Jet Airways)

I have been in a decent number of flights so far, must be more than a hundred easily. The best one to fly in is A380, hands down. Every leg I flew in it was so comfortable and so roomy, even transatlantic flights don't feel tiring in this beautiful machine. It pains to see that a couple of them have already been retired.

And for someone who calls themselves an aviation enthusiast, I have a lot more to cover. I really want to fly the A340 and B747 at least once before they are made obsolete. If I am lucky, may be a tri-jet like MD-11. I am sure there will be lots of A350s and B787s in future, so I am not worried about missing them.

Interesting thread. Trying to remember from memory:

Propellor Planes
1. Avro (Indian Airlines used to operate)
2. ATR 72
3. Q-400
4. Dash 8 (is it the same as the Q400 Spicejet operates - am not sure)
5. Cessna Caravan
6. Beechcraft King Air (have actually flown sitting in the cockpit of one on a single crew sector)
7. L-410 (this has been Googled - I flew a non pressurised plane from Delhi to Kullu operated by Archana Airways in 1998)

Airbus Jets
A300
A310
A319/320/321/Neo
A330
A340
A350
A380

Boeing Jets
B717
B737 (probably all series 200 classics/ 300/400/500/700/800/900/Max8)
B747 (400/-8)
B757
B767
B777
B787

McDonnell Douglas / Others
MD81
DC10 / MD11 (not sure but it was a trijet)
Avro RJ 85 (quad jet)

Private Jets
Cessna Citation
Bombardier Challenger 600 (Googled the photo I had)
Embraer Legacy 600

Have also flown by one other private jet and taken two helicopter flights but do not recall the models.

May have missed some of the short range jets used on flights within the US and Europe as well

Re: Which Aircraft have you flown in as a passenger?

@V Narayan : your posts are always a treat to the eyes and fodder for the mind!

Barring the last set mentioned in post viz,
McDonnell Douglas, BAe, Enbrarer, Helicopters and Private Jets, I’ve flown in literally every aircraft of Boeing and Airbus!

The shortest I’ve flown is Mum - Ahmedabad (about 45 mins) and the longest I’ve flown is
Athens - Frankfurt - San Francisco- Mexico with long stopover at Frankfurt (8 hours) and SFO (6 hours) making the trip a whooping 33 Hrs !! (I badly wanted to checkinto my hotel in Mexico as I was close to stinking after 33 hours travel &#128514

Best A380 I flew in was SIA (Singapore - Mumbai) and the most A380 trips were with emirates on both DXB - GRU (Guarulhous - Brazil) and DXB - SFO (About 20 trips each)

Before A380 I also enjoyed the Emirates hospitality on Boeing 767-300ER on above routes.

Thank you for taking me down the memory lane!! (Im not an avid photographer and hence have no snaps of aircrafts of my trip)
