in some countries ,it is Known As Chevrolet Super Carry. Pick up and Van too.

should sell well in competition to tata. yet another "ACE" up marutis sleeve :D
It won't work, because:
1. All versions of the Carry are petrol engined (or LPG/CNG), while the Ace is powered by an oil burner.
2. The Ace's chassis, suspension and axles are much tougher than the Carry, which makes it better suited for the typical overloading prevelent here.
CNG version will do here. There will be many takers.
Just remember the very very cheap maintenance costs Omni comes with.

Isn't Suzuki Carry same as Maruti Versa?
as such it defently looks like a good idea...but lot of other factors before maruti actually does this....
1) capacity availability
2) it has to start a whole new dealer channel bcos a CV buyer is quite diff from a passenger car buyer..
3) does maruti have the expertise to tap thsi market segment ? TATA has a traditional stronghold with transport operators...it just makes logical sense forthem to buy a tata vehicle...may not be the case with a maruti
4) would maruti want to do it at all ? why would maruti want to get a CV image when it is trying to step up the car market itself segment wise...this would not do too well to the brand image.... there are exceptions though ( like VOLVO which is a CV and passenger car brand )
5) lastly cheap diesel is defently require ( CNG is not yet commonly available- so transporters may not go for this ) - and maruti does NOT have a small , cheap diesel engine
Actually over the past few days I've seen a similar pickup van with the name Virgo on it. Anyone know which manufacturer is this from?
saw this type of pick up many times in the faridabad local car market many years back...but when I enquire that from where did one buy it they told me that when maruti was setting up in gurgaon they had imported this type of vehicle for internal material handing....and these type of vehicles can carry not more than 600 kgs at one go..
Actually it is very difficult for maruti to penetrate the cargo vehicle business. That is where TATA has etched a name for themselves.
You're missing something very important. The first, international picture, says 4WD!!!
And why on earth would Suzuki sell a vehicle called Ravi in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan?!

If you consider urban areas, Omni delivery vans sell handsomely since Maruti has an
"upmarket image" compared to Tata...

It is made by an unknown manufacturer probably Taiwanese and yes, it looks very similar to the Omni
By the way, this is Premier Automobiles' competitor to Tata Ace.. -- Premier Roadstar

You Guys are talking about this one.
i spotted today. but the quality of vehicle is poor. engine is not so refined. even this vehicle look like 90's. i have a doubt. i guess this vehicle is not from Suzuki.

like above pickup van...mahindra has also launched a similar vehicle with diesel engine...don't remember the name....

- The vehicle is obviously not a suzuki since it is caught testing in Pune.
- Headlamps are like the first generation Maruti Omni
- The indicator and bumper has been lifted from the Omni.
- The large grille suggests that it's a diesel or is it a decoy?
- The "ON TEST" sticker is very similar to those used by Tata, isn't it, Tushky?
- The taillamps are those found on Force (Tempo) Minidor...
- By the way, about six months ago, I'd spotted a test mule of the four-wheel version of Force Minidor.
