Gadkari: Ambulance sirens to sound like Aakashwani tune!

Ambulance sirens to sound like Aakashwani tune
https://www.indiatimes.com/news/indi...ne-550931.html
Quote from the article
Quote:
Gadkari said that he put an end to red beacons and now it's time for those sirens to end.

Gadkari said he put an end to red beacons. “Now I want to put an end to these sirens as well. Now I am studying the sirens (used by) ambulances and police. An artist composed a tune of Akashwani (All India Radio) and it was played early in the morning. I am thinking of using that tune for ambulances so that people feel pleasant. It is so irritating, especially after ministers pass by, the sirens are used at full volume. This also harms the ears.”
The Aakashwani tune

No offence to the composer and those who love this tune, but it would suit a hearse rather than an ambulance.
Dear Internet, get ready to be flooded with Indian ambulance memes!

Maybe for once if he studied condition of roads, highways and the exorbitant taxes his RTO department levies on cars, he wouldn't have time to make such statements
Waiting for another gem of a statement from this minister !

And the roads are going to sound ominous

Honestly if they leave the emergency services alone and do it for all others including the cavalcades it would be a public service. Much needed laughter for the masses.
I would actually stop by the side and burst out laughing.

For such a competent minister he is coming out with some totally hair brained ideas. Both on the horns front as well as sirens. There is a reason an ambulance or fire brigade world wide has a certain sound. And for better or worse there is decades of muscle memory to react to it.

He should leave emergency services as it is and perhaps make ministerial or VIP cars just light based sirens and remove the sound function from their cars.

Re: Gadkari: Ambulance sirens to sound like Aakashwani tune!

In Indian films, similar music are being played when people visit the house where death has occurred.

And adding to this, all other vehicles will be performing musical orchestra in every signal and traffic jams by playing various musical instrument horns.

So, patients in Ambulance might think, they are still alive and people have already declared the death. So, Mr. Gadkari must have thought this siren may help the patient inside ambulance to getup soon.

I like this All India Radio music very much but playing it as Ambulance siren is like

The Aakashwani tune is well suited for the hearse vans! A patient inside an ambulance with this tune will start to have second thoughts about being able to survive..

Re: Gadkari: Ambulance sirens to sound like Aakashwani tune!

Gadkari has done a lot of good solid work for the road transport sector. Certainly more than any minister of the past in this portfolio. But if he comes up with this then this is the only legacy he will be remembered for. I hope he reads this and realizes his legacy will forever be linked to AIRs mournful tune of a dog in pain.

I see Mr. Gadkari prepares his April Fool's jokes around seven months in advance now. That's exactly the sort of organization and foresight we should expect from our esteemed leaders.

MoRTH will have to seriously speed up the 'dog howl' and turn it into a trance + rap mixture :-)

On a serious note, the Akashvani tune has an interesting past:

Haha. With that tune, I can imagine a semi - conscious patient’s thought bubble:

“Its bad enough that I died, but seems like I got directed to hell!!”

Re: Gadkari: Ambulance sirens to sound like Aakashwani tune!

I am all for it, as long as he let's me play my EDM playlist as a horn connected to at least three subwoofers and couple of tweeters mounted on the roof of my car

On a Serious note, this has to be the most absurd thought ever; horns are meant to annoy the traffic, and not sound pleasing

Re: Gadkari: Ambulance sirens to sound like Aakashwani tune!

Nithin Gadkari is one of the few ministers in the current government who I actually respect, I am told that he has done a stellar job revitalizing the Indian infrastructure and based on his interviews, I've always viewed him as a sensible person with bipartisan abilities. So, I can't help but be surprised at his almost child-ish suggestions regarding sirens and car horns.

Between him and our commerce minister linking Amazon to the East India Company and calling out Tata as working for 'profits' and not 'national interests', I can't help but wonder if they realize how child-ish their comments are.

Perhaps, the next time Mr. Gadkari makes such comments, we should ask him to blink if he is being forced to make these comments

I wonder if he is just trolling auto journalists, twitter folks and car enthusiasts like us. I get the feeling he is doing after reading these news reports.

The problem with using dry wit at Indian journalists is that rather than laugh at the joke, it becomes national headlines!
