I am not a design engineer but a very lover of good designs. Its appalling to see Tata not focusing on design elements in the people mover/load carrier category. its definitely an area where you can capture market and be the leader.

There are quite a good number of handsome looking vans out there. The Hyundai iLoad, The Renault Traffic (master, Master bus and so on), The Ford Transit, Toyota HiAce. Even if the designers do a copy/paste design job inspired from the discontinued vans like the 90s Chevrolet Vans or the Volkswagen Transporter, the winger will find a very good market (I am not saying they should do it but at least look at how they are designed all over the world)

And what if it can actually give competition to the Innovas and Carnivals ? With a better engine, interiors and features ? Well Tata is not interested in giving job to dreamers like me i guess

Although this looks bad, the cabbies who buy TT or winger are not really bothered about looks. All they want is a bit faster returns on their investment, cheaper spares and decent mileage. As they can't continue with the contract after 5yrs, hence the vehicle has to be used, abused, earn profit - all this in that span of time, before they switch to a new one again.

I work for a bank's call center and having interacted with majority of my usual cab drivers. They crib about unusually high spares prices of Winger - especially the drive shafts and front struts.

They drive anywhere between 250 - 300kms in a day, 26 days a month. Looks are not exactly their priority.

The only way a winger can compete and win against a TT is by offering a bigger cabin, rear wheel drive, leaf springs for both axles, turbo charged engine that has good low end Torque too. Simplicity is what wins the cab segment (atleast for IT and bpo company cabs)

Interestingly, while most of the new BS6 models are showcased on their website, but brochures of all of them aren't available yet, and some of them have images (in the Features tabs) from the old outgoing model still displayed on the website, instead of from the new models. Tata Motors team should have taken heed to correct these mistakes while updating the website with new model images!!

No mention of any Winger Platinum replacement even in the BS6 guise for Private Registration owners, they should have given an option I guess. No update on Winger Cargo variants either.

It doesn't look that bad in white. At least the front makes it distinct from other vans. If anything, the front will make others take notice of the vehicle. This should be a strong selling point.

Looks were never the problem for this vehicle. It was the high maintenance cost and I hope the company sorted out these issues. The market conditions are such that even a minor difference in operating costs can switch a transport operator's decision towards other vehicles.

TML bags order of 115 Winger Ambulances from Gujarat state government.

Gandhinagar: Tata Motors has supplied 25 Tata Winger Ambulances to the Health Department of Gujarat, as a part of the larger order of 115 ambulances.

The 25 Tata Winger Ambulances are equipped with basic life support and will be deployed for the aid of patients in the city. Tata Motors won the bid for the order under the Government e-Marketplace, and the vehicles are designed for patient transport as per AIS 125 Part 1. Tata Motors claims it will phase-wise supply the remaining 90 ambulance shells, as per the contract.
