If i am not wrong, TRATEC hydraulic trailers would have 8 tyres per axle of R20 size. In which case, 18T is still within 24T(8*3T per tyre).

The limit is not 3 T per tyre, but 6 T for axle with single tires at each side, and 10.2 T for axle with twin tires on each sides.
Trailers like this with 8 tires on an axle will be allowed less than 20.4 T per axle.

Rahul

On the way to work this morning I spotted these huge trailers carrying what appear to be new railway coaches. For the Bangalore metro perhaps? Second time I'm seeing them in the same area (The road connecting Marathalli to Doddanekundi / Outer ring Road).

Looks like they are BEML (CV Ramanagar) manufactured Metro coaches and parked there till they can move out late night to their destination, for all you know maybe Baiyapanahalli itself.

From a 4,800 tonne water cleaning plant to a space ship spanning six lanes, the biggest things ever moved on the road revealed:

Scammell Crusader
The Crusader was a 4×2 or 6×4 tractor that used a Motor Panels-supplied steel cab, available in sleeper- or day-cab forms. It had the option of Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Rolls-Royce or Leyland engines. The Crusader was used by the British Army as a 6×4 tow-truck (with EKA underlift equipment) and as a 6x4 tractor unit normally used for towing 35 tonne plant trailers or 30 tonne tank bridge transport trailers. A recovery variant was also in use. The British Army replaced the Crusader in the late 1990s by a Seddon Atkinson tractor unit with a 40 tonne plant trailer and a specialist tank bridge transporter. Many have seen use in the heavy haulage industry due to their incredibly strong chassis.
The military specification vehicles were usually equipped with 15-speed Fuller gearboxes and an 8 tonne capstan winch.

I spotted this same Scammel truck almost 3 years back near Dhule. It had met an accident with Innova Ramming into it.

A old Volvo FL series truck . looks like it was refurbished.

Here’s an interesting one. A massive truck carrying some space equipment took a year to travel from Maharashtra to Kerala.

I have always been a huge fan of trucking, especially the big rigs they have in US and EU. (Latest Volvo trucks are absolutely out of this world)

Recently I stumbled upon this video, where I was absolutely wowed by this behemoth load they are transporting

I am not sure how they coordinate between the multiple drivers. Walkie talkie I suppose.
Also, watch closely around the 1:45 mark. You can see the trailer has turning axles.

Just watched this last night as it came through the YT feed.

That is close to around 2000hp pulling. The co-ordination is mainly through spotters on the road. Those trailers have independently turning set of wheels which can be controlled by a operator who sits at the end of the trailer. They are actually two separate trailers, one at either end with the cradle carrying the load in the centre.

Came across this news article - a 1000 tonne boiler being transported from Mundra port, GJ to Pachpadra refinery in Rajasthan. Travelling for 11 months now, and still 6-8 weeks to go.

The suspension on the trailer are air suspension and individual dual tyres can be lifted off the ground, like lift axles on rigid trucks. That is what I remember from seeing these on the road.
