Re: Indian Civil Aviation

Jet Airways to be liquidated -Supreme Court.

https://www.msn.com/en-in/travel/air...40e90d24&ei=31

More than five years ago on an April evening, cash-starved Jet Airways announced temporary grounding of operations after flying as a full service airline for 25 years. Since then, more than 20,000 jobs and money worth thousands of crores owed to lenders, vendors and passengers evaporated while awaiting an insolvency resolution.

And today, the Supreme Court ordered the airline's liquidation, marking the formal completion of a turbulent journey into the sunset and shattering lean revival hopes.

After these years of the airline's collapse, what remain are disrupted livelihoods, unpaid dues and a few planes with Jet Airways livery gathering dust.

Once clearly the best run airline in India by a long margin this company, in my opinion, was ruined by the greed & unethical ways of its promoters.

Finis.

Sad day. I travelled a lot on Jet Airways all over India. By and large a good experience. Better than most alternative.

Re: Indian Civil Aviation

I keep reading news implicitly blaming the pilots who cite their duty hour limitations that results in delays.

Aren't the pilots invariably doing the right thing here? Is there another way to look at this that an expert can highlight?

If not, should a regulatory org like Press Club of India (PCI) not be encouraged by DGCA to address this lazy, 'us versus them' framing of the story as 'misinformation'? And instead encourage the PCI members to frame this as a 'we are all in it together' conversation around safety and timeliness, but in the correct order.
Unless the press has reasons to believe that the airline wilfully delayed the passengers, and that's a conversation beyond the decision of the pilots.

They are absolutely doing the right thing. Commercial pilots have very strict rules on their working and testing regime.

It happens quite often that pilots need to call of a flight as their time is up. These days with very busy airspace and sometimes monumental delays on the ground prior clearance to depart from the gate, pilots will find them in a situation where they need to step down.

It’s nothing unusual, happens all over the world and has been happening for decades

Re: Indian Civil Aviation

Indigo becomes the worlds most valued airline with a market capitalization of $23 billion+

https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/bu...-12990279.html

India's Indigo airline made history in the recent rally in its stock by overtaking Ryan Air and Delta Airlines to become the most valued airline in the world. Indigo commands around 60% of the Indian domestic passenger market. The airline says its foreign operations contribute to around 40% of its seat mile output compared to 28% in 2023. Indigo uses its fleet of 403 aircraft to service 128 destinations of which 91 are domestic.

It is very creditable to achieve this in an Indian environment with a less than capable regulator, govt officials who are not all straight and bureaucracy which is not always helpful. We all may have some grudge against the airline for service shortfalls but for today let us put that aside and congratulate this fine airline for putting Indian aviation on the map.

A proud moment for Indian aviation

Re: Indian Civil Aviation

I had no idea that they had such a lofty valuation! To be in the same ballpark as Ryanair and Delta is nothing to be sniffed at, it basically means IndiGo are an industry heavyweight. I suppose with a dominant Maruti level of iron grip market share wise of the Indian civil airspace sector, it makes sense.

What's with Indian male passengers and pissing on some other passenger. Air India passengers seem to be practising it rather often. Men who cannot hold their liquor and then can't seem to find their way to the toilet facilities seem to be one too man. One worthy named Tushar Masand urinated on another passenger when a New Delhi - Bangkok was starting its descent. DGCA has asked for all airlines to ban him from flying for an extended period.

A great feet and achievement indeed. Indigo took all the right steps and progressed well to be this behemoth. I must say majority of credit should go to Aditya Ghosh, a visionary leader.
