Eicher has marked its entry into the sub-5 ton category of commercial vehicles with the launch of the Eicher Pro 1049 (Eicher Pro 1000 series).

The Eicher Pro 1049 comes with a 10 ft. long cargo body and has a GVW of 4.9 tons. This mini truck has been designed to cater to the last mile distribution network in urban, semi-urban and rural areas across the country. The company claims that it is suitable for use in multiple segments such as distribution of vegetables, milk, poultry, water bottles, LPG cylinders, groceries and eCommerce.



Powering the Pro 1049 is a E483 TCI, turbocharged diesel engine with an intercooler. It produces 94 BHP @ 3,200 rpm and 285 Nm of torque @ 1,440 rpm. The unit complies with BS-III emission norms and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Eicher Pro 1000 series has been indigenously designed at Eicher's Pithampur plant. It can be purchased at the company's authorized dealerships across India.

Reminds of a similar product they had some time back. I think it was in a higher tonnage segment and was bigger.
This one looks like another attempt at the 407.
