Mahindra Commercial Vehicles @ Auto Expo 2016

While every manufacturer was launching new products, Mahindra was quite busy renaming their trucks yet another time. Yes, now the current Traco, Truxo, Torro are renamed as Blazo. The only difference is, they are now available with Common Rail engines.

Hope they dont rename themselves "Mahindro"

On a serious note, Mr. Nalin Mehta has informed that they have reached market share of 3.6% overall in M&Hcv. This should tell them that lot of work is to be done on the ground rather than just renaming the trucks. Mahindra is yet to make a big impact in this segment and last entrant Daimler has comfortably overtaken Mahindra. But as a Desi brand and a company with deep pockets, Mahindra is putting lot of efforts which is actually to be appreciated.

Launched here are Blazo 37 - A 37T rigid truck and a Hydrogen Bus.

They had electronic engine since long. BLAZO comes with multi-mode - what that means is one can adjust truck's power & torque based on load & terrain conditions.

That's a lot more than just renaming.

Appreciate Benz, but 3.6% would not have happened without some ground work when MANs, AMWs, Kamazs & Eicher old series lost market share / vanished from the market.

Wish we had a more detailed pictorial coverage here.

I could see something similar to a Mahindra Maxitruck, looks more like a facelift.
Didnt they showcase variants of Camper, and I was told about more people carriers than the Hydrogen bus.

They had electronic engine only in the 49T. Now it was told that Common Rail engines will be available in all their range of vehicles. And only with electronic engines multi mode of operation is possible which every manufacturer is offering now.

I wouldn't like to compare Mahindra with others whom you pointed, as only Mahindra was making so much noise when they entered M&HCV space. They wanted to pull existing players in a large scale. Remember full page Ad in ET telling "Ok is no longer Ok".
Also Daimler has comfortably overtaken them within a short span. Till now Mahindra hasn't established themselves in any particular segments though they have product in all segments.

PLz correct me if I am wrong anywhere.

A friend owns Mahindra 40T with electronic engine for last four years.
They offered him a 25T with electronic two years back.

49T is launched just 2-3 months back.

A senior level resource tells my friend that Mahindra's Tipper market share is at 6% against Daimler's 11%.

I would say not bad considering 150 year old behemoth's experience versus 6-7 year old kid. And I guess 'OK is no longer OK' is toned down these days.

Re: Mahindra Commercial Vehicles @ Auto Expo 2016

Spotted the Blazo 37 today.

With this, every truck manufacturer in India has a 5 axle rigid in their portfolio except MAN if I am correct.

I've seen more number of Blazo 37 trucks than TM LPT3718c / LPT3723c. IIRC, most of them were AP registered and one or two were MH registered.

In certain places like GJ Mahindra is doing a good job and are a close contestant with Tata. Tata is trying to match the lost market share last year by offering new schemes this year.

Mahindra's Blazo Tipper caught on a testing run by my friend Autospy.

BS-IV version?

In Assam, I see a lot of Tracos and Truxos compared a minuscule number of BharatBenz. Even Tata Primas are less compared to M&Ms.
