Whoa!
That is one LOOOOONG car!
Finally the Force Toofan has some competition! lol:
A much better one!
D-Max 4x4 could be a reality soon as two trucks have been brought in as prototypes! Although, only in single cab guise.
But, these units were brought in from Malaysia (not Thailand), could we also be looking towards the launch of 2nd generation D-Max?
Looks handsome for sure!

Saw this nice Isuzu Dmax at Amethyst cafe in Chennai. Belongs to a BHP'ian. Looks awesome.
I wonder when they will launch a non-commercial version. Eagerly waiting for the day. I don't mind getting an LCV driving licence to be able to drive it but city restrictions is the reason why I cannot buy it :-(

I quite like the looks of the MU-X SUV too, which is based on the same platform.

There are more than a couple in Bosch campus undergoing testing. Out of these 2 are always under wraps. This may be the proto versions undergoing trials. A couple of the D max in its present awatar is left in as is condition and I have also spotted a Double cab version undergoing tests. Looks like there may be a shakedown in the Isuzu stable soon.

Saw this D-Max in white board today. Good to see more private buyers showing interest in the D-Max. |
If this is a commercial vehicle , how did the owner register with the white plate ?
Also anyone know how much would be the approximate yearly tax for this vehicle ?
With some good mods , this could look like a very serious life style vehicle for private owners.
I had been to Thailand recently. Their market is supposed to be the second biggest pick up truck market in the world and i saw some really tasty trucks out there. Here are a couple of pictures from one of the Thai truck magazines...

I have my doubts if it can really beat Force Toofan. Force has a better dealer network in rural and smaller cities where Isuzu is yet to get a decent footprint. Will it be competitively priced against Toofan ?

I was just talking about the sheer size of it. Nothing much else.
Agree about the better dealer network and also regarding 'private' owner registration.
Nevertheless I hope that they increase their reach in the coming years as they are head and shoulders above their competitors in terms of quality vehicles. :)

Agreed, but there are a few private owners too I guess. I saw a few pictures here . I too hope that this becomes available for private owners. SOme companies have strange policies. I wonder who comes up with such things or for what reason ?

Yes, but those are few and far in between.
I think these policies are just because they want to test waters first with the limited number of service centers.
Hope that eventually they do the needful!
D-Max 4x4 in for testing, now in dual cab as well! Hope this is Isuzu only (not a competitor).

Was driving solo from Trivandrum to Bangalore two weeks back, maintaining a constant 100 kmph on the 4 lane near Salem which an Innova zoomed into the rear view flashing it's lights. Gave way, only to see a pickup flashing it's lights. Sure must have been maintaining 120 or more and seemed to be chasing the Innova comfortably.
Shocking part was- it was loaded to the max with bananas. Developed a new found respect for the D-Max then and there. Should be one mighty machine without load. |
I believe you have not seen the commercial versions of Xenon driven on highways. 120kmph + is very comfortable for them, load or no load, and they keep zooming past traffic. Forget a pickup like Xenon, have you seen the Dost fly by? That 70 odd bhp makes the truck fly!! I have seen a Dost clocking over 100kmph with loads easily... for that matter even the Bolero campers keep doing a 100-110 constantly on bald tyres....
