Hi,

Have you taken delivery of the vehicle? If yes, please do put in an update about your impressions.

TIA

Didn't find a suitable thread to post so posting it here. Please move it to appropriate thread if needed dear mods.

Just got to TD our Isuzu D-Max Crew Cab few minutes back. The first thing I didn't know was that, commercial cars are restricted to 80KMPH in West Bengal. The second thing, the speed limiter really puts a damper on the already unimpressive engine. The pick up was so slow, yet however, the build quality both inside and outside the cabin is impressive. I took lots of pictures both inside and out but somehow unable to post them using the mobile app.

It's made mandatory across India and Isuzu has restricted speeds to 80 Kmph across its complete commercial range and there is no easy way to remove this restriction as per my known. It's really applaudable, don't know which other manufacturers are following this.

The SA over at Kolkata dealership is saying that it is an easy fix and a mechanic could easily remove it. Lol. This really changes the equation then. Maybe we should cancel it and go for something else instead.

By the way, the rear bumper is missing in the Crew Cab version and the sales team have no clue where to procure it from. Do you know where to procure it from dear Turbanator?

Re: Review: Isuzu D-Max

Didnt find a suitable thread so putting the query here.

I am planning on buying in Bangalore the D-Max Single Cab Flat deck pick-up for my farm and register it as a WHITE BOARD number plate as its purely for my private use. So far I have made multiple trips to the Bangalore RTO as well as Transport Commissioner's office for this purpose, but the only explanation they give is that its classified by ARAI as a Goods Career and as such it can only be regd as a yellow board. If its only that reason, I find it illogical that we cant buy any goods carrier for our private use. However, here on T-bhp I did find some pics of the Isuzu Single Cab pick up regd as white board in KL & TN. (I am hoping the users did not decide to just change the plate, which is not only an offence but I know in Karnataka commercial vehicles have a different alphabet series after the KA 01, KA 02...normally taxis have AA, AB etc)

Anyways, I have seen autorickshaws as well as a few custom built caravans with white boards. I have already paid the booking deposit at the showroom and lets see how it goes.

In the meanwhile if any of you are aware of the formalities for the D-Max Single Cab registered in any state in India as a private carrier with a white board, I would be grateful to hear from you.

Thanks,
Haroon

Some of the RTO's mostly in upcountry allow registration via agents(you need to pay extra), this is based on my experience in North, so you cannot register this on a private number say in Gurgaon but can do in Rewari, something to do with the passing of this vehicle as commercial by manufacturer/ dealers.

Also, note that speed of this variant is now restricted to 80 Kmph, so you may get bored especially if you plan to carry your bikes on this truck Do consider V-Cross instead.

Thanks for the inputs Turbanator. I will have to explore if in Karnataka there is a back door route....

Your are right this vehicle is restricted to 80kmph, but the showroom guy said customers go to a couple of specialized places in Bangalore that deactivate it. Also there is a very experienced hand in Bangalore who fixes A/c for this particular model at an additional Rs 40k. I ruled out the V-Cross primarily for cargo space, besides at two-and-half times the price I would not be doing justice carrying fodder and other smelly farm stuff in the 'luxurious' V-Cross (btw, this model can easily carry 2 motorbikes )

Re: Review: Isuzu D-Max

They have upgraded S-Cab (4-door type) It now looks like a smaller V-Cross. Wish they had put a 4x4 as well. This is priced marginally higher @ 8,65

This was visible on their site when I last checked 2-3 weeks back. Seems to be a much better choice than the space cab version.
This photos show a temporary white number plate. Does that mean this one can be bought with white plates?
Also any idea if the engine can be tuned to the specs of V-Cross since this comes with the detuned engine.

Kind request to our Bangalore/Karnataka Team-Bhp members

As I had mentioned in an earlier post, I am just going thru the process of convincing the Bangalore RTO to grant me permission for a white board registration for the Single Cab Isuzu D-Max pick-up for my private farm use.

In this context, I was advised if I could submit the picture of a similar SINGLE-CAB pick up that has a white-board KA registration like the Tata Xenon Yodha, Tata 207 or Mahindra Bolero etc. they could consider my case. I did recently notice in Indiranagar a green Tata 207 pick-up with KA 06 white board registration, but I was in heavy traffic and by the time I could click the picture it was gone . I am still looking around to spot it again, but in the meanwhile if any of you come across any white board KA registered SINGLE CAB pick-up, I would be extremely grateful if you could share a pic of the vehicle in Private Message to me.

Thanks in advance for your help

Insane interpretation of archaic laws by babus whose thinking is forever dated in British Raj. As long as these IAS and their cousin cadres are not abolished, such things are never going to improve. Not to forget there are countries in EU as well who compete with our babus when it comes to bureaucracy (e.g. Poland).

Hello,
were you able to get this done? I too am thinking about getting the registration of my D-Max Space Cab changed to a White Plate. Was not sure on how to go about this.

Thanks.

Not yet. I am in process of preparing the documentation to give one last try thru the Transport Commissioner's office failing which I will approach the High Court, which can take 3-6 months to come thru, positive or negative. Shall update here.

Hello Haroon, there is a Tata 207 single cab near my home in Girinagar with a white board. It is KA05M series vehicle. It was parked inside the compound and the gate was locked. The owner seems to be a passionate Tata fan with a Sumo and another one parked in the vicinity. I will try to check one more time tomorrow after I return from work. If you want to meet up with the owner personally, PM me, we will take this offline.
