Mahindra to launch a global pickup on new platform in 2016
According to Mahindra Automotive Australia (MAA) national manager Mahesh Kaskar, Mahindra is looking to add new-generation global models from early 2016. Quote:
“I can only make a statement that next Pik-Up will be in a true sense a global pick-up with all the safety and features … to a global standard,” said Mr Kaskar.
| Quote:
“We have two pick-ups: we will focus Genio mainly for tradies because of its big 2.7m tray, whereas Pik-Up will be mainly for mining and farming, because it has better off-road capability to exploit,” said Mr Kaskar.
| - A new generation of the Pik-Up is due in 2016. This new generation Pik-Up, far from being a utilitarian farm-friendly special, will boast a global design pitched firmly at western markets, potentially with a five-star safety rating.
- Other models in the pipeline include a mid-sized SUV codenamed U101, a global MPV codenamed W202 and a P601 light truck.
- There is a totally different product platform Mahindra is getting ready as well.

Will this be the new platform, the all new Scorpio which is slated in 2016 based on?
It makes a lot of sense to have two Global products based on a new generation platform.
