Re: May & June 2013: CV Sales India The overall CV industry though in a bit of a trough in its sales cycles seems to be largely stable in terms of market share. Bharat Benz seems not to have made any significant dent in the market. But there are some interesting battles within products. Some of them are:
1. Tata Prima vs the Volvos/Actros/Scania : If the Prima with its 280 and 380hp engines is selling about 150-200 units a month, that would be very good.
2. Prima LX vs ALL U truck vs MNAL vs Bharat Benz : These are sort of slightly premium products which are in battle together.
Among things to look out for in the future will be:
1. Leyland entering the battlefield of Prima and Volvo premium trucks, along with higher hp variants of the Prima.
2. LCV revolution with Tata Ultra LCVs with its new engines, Leyland Avia LCVs and Nissan-Leyland LCVs.
3. Shift from cowl-chassis to cab-chassis trucks, when will it happen?? When are truck body standards coming??
4. The premium luxury bus segment seems ready to take off on a nation wide scale. Scania Metrolink vs Volvo B7R/B9R/B11R. Will Tata enter with its Hispano bodied buses or MarcoPolo ones like the Paradiso G7?? What about Leyland and MAN??
5. MNAL's future without Navistar??? Where will it get its engines from come 2015 and nationwide BSIV norms?? |
