Is this available on white plates?
Private registration?

I think I am falling in love. She looks so beautiful. I want mine in black.

Is it the same length as the "overpriced" Xenon?

Damn you home loan emi.

This looks really cool, i wonder what stops Tata to build a passenger cabin behind and put in a 4x4 gear box, and wohla you have a better looking Safari.

Does it come with a passenger cabin at all (By default i mean), as i have seen in HYD last Sunday but dismissed it thinking someone must have modded the pickup truck for passenger ferrying purpose.

They even have a better looking web site for this (http://xenon.tatamotors.com)

Ditto. In black too.

Better tyres, 4wd and you are good to go. 8.5L tops you'll have a very good 4wd vehicle!

Oh, this just got inside the budget!!
I ADORE this "doesnt make any sense" car!!
I have been sifting through classifieds all over india, to keep a check on the prices.
Used, cos I want to extend the rear cab half a foot, and get proper rear seats, not the 90deg ones as they are.bog standard.

The interior quality did not make sense for 10L, maybe it does for the 7L version.
who knows.

BUT!!
is this the "famed" 3.0L???
Give second and third thoughts, guys.....

EDIT: Mayankj, I think its the same 3L Dicor.
I hope the issues have been cleared out this time around.
(2nd to last pic , 3L BS3 DICOR)

Nope it comes in both 2.2 DiCOR and 3.0 avatar, check the web site - Tata Motors | XENON

This is what the PDF had to say, download from the site

THE BEAST
Sturdy, powerful and hardworking. To the new Xenon, performance comes naturally. With the beastly 2.2 litre, Dicor diesel engine, it churns out 140 ps of raw power. Packed with features, the Xenon challenges your adrenaline and commands to be driven to be believed.

Edit : @mayankk, please read the PDF engine spec manual from the web site . It comes in two options.

This is nice pricing but it is now not positioned as a life style vehicle I guess and is aimed more for rural india to go for commercial business. Still boasts a LSD. This could work but for a proper lifestyle vehicle it should still be the 2.2 dicore. The cover in the engine bay shows dicore so I guess they have further worked on the engine since it did duty in the safari. A service advisor told me last month that all issues with the 3.0 were sorted out before the 2.2 was introduced again with its own list of issues on the safari.

The specs of this 3.0 are identical to those of the discontinued Safari 3.0:

115 HP @ 3000 RPM and 300 NM torque, BS-IV non-compliant

Wonder why a BS-IV version is not offered given that Sumo Gold comes with one, although it develops only 85 PS.

Looks like a good deal. The 3L Dicor unit had become niggle free towards the end so its a nice engine to have. Does it have a 4x4 option too? If yes, then an exciting option for mud-pluggers, bag-packers.

Look at it the other way, its far too refined than Thar, has a lockable cabin, is much more comfortable & ergonomics are huge step up. Im keen on this one, will check locally.

The 2.2 L VTT is the 9-11 lac version, depending on how many wheels you want pushing.

No, most offroaders dont like the long overhang of vehicles in this category.

Now that is the right price for the Xenon. I'm sure this will give tough run for money to the Genio (Xylo Pikup). Bolero Camper is still cheaper.

If only this had come a year earlier and I would have had this in my stable. But I'm happy with what I have presently in my stable

Cheers

But camper can't be bought with white plates and finding any details about it from dealer is finding a needle in the haystack.
