Re: Tata Xenon Crew-Cab launched : The Downgraded variant of Xenon XT

My family recently bought a white Toyota Tundra in Canada so something similar would be quite tempting here.
The wheel look too puny for its size & would have preferred more pronounced rear wheel arch to give it masculine appearance.
The seat material & the steering are loud examples of cost cutting.
The dash looks damn better than any other Tata SUV.
I second all who mentioned that Tata should convert this into a full fledged SUV & throw that Tata Storme out of the window.
If priced correctly, Tata may have a surprise winner at hand.

IS TATA LISTENING????

Shankar

Yesterday I went to the biggest TATA dealer in Mysore, they had not heard about this version and could not get me any details after much phoning around.

I wrote to TATA via their website yesterday and quoted this post but I guess I am unlikely to hear from them.

I was really surprised how bureaucratic/govt office'ish' the Tata dealerships I visited were.

It appears they are not really serious about launching this vehicle at this stage.
If priced correctly, I too believe this could be a winner for them, anyway the obviously cant be bothered!

A friend of mine recently bought an Xenon XT, it is an impressive vehicle but at 13+ Lakhs, it appears that the same joker who priced the Aria has waved his magic pricing wand on the Xenon XT.

They really are terrible with their pricing aren't they? Their big showroom near Dairy Circle in Bangalore is one of their better ones in my experience. But there is a serious lack of communication from their HQ on new launches, new products etc. You may be better off buying a Mahindra Maxx Pikup and asking your driver to do the job of ferrying the workforce up and down in it. Or that bare basic Bolero M2di version may do the job better than the old jeep.

Do you know if there is a 4X4 variant?
AFAIK no 4x4 option available.

May be its launched in Maharashtra only.

If priced correctly, why ?

IMO 6.4L is great price for this vehicle.

IMO Xenon XT is way overpriced even 4x2 version.

I got pretty excited on seeing this, until I saw your last post! :(

IMO, he meant it for the SUV derived from Xenon, not this one.

Is this from export surplus kits ? Since if I remember correctly Tata were dispatching some Xenon 3.0 Dicor to Italy and other European countries. Maybe there are a few numbers left and these are being locally sold.

Re: Tata Xenon Crew-Cab launched : The Downgraded variant of Xenon XT

Jeepster
7 L OTR is excellent pricing (they only have to inform dealers about this variant).

I was hoping for a 4X4 variant but that is not a dealbreaker.

Currently the only choice for farm folk is Mahindra Thar DI 4X4 priced at 6.2 OTR.

It offers -
- WW 2 level mechanicals, safety and ergonomics:(.
-It can haul pumpsets and trailers.
-Offers 4X4.
- can transport both labour and goods .
- withstands abuse by bad drivers

Our existing Jeep is over 15 yrs old and the only replacement option still appears to be another Mahindra.

This is a bit disappointing.

Anyway this Xenon will give Bolero Pickups some much needed competition.

Dear Nikhil,

I meant the SUV version.

For a pickup truck, this one is a treat at the given price.
We paid 18K (Canadian dollars) for a 2007 Toyota Tundra with 40K on odo. Asking price was 21K.

I have seen it on road in Hyderabad and looks quite ok. I would say absolutely VFM!

Re: Tata Xenon Crew-Cab launched : The Downgraded variant of Xenon XT

Hey Jeepster,
Congratulations on buying Xenon. I wanted to buy a Xenon since I first saw one and now that one is available at a really good price I want one. But i'm kind of skeptical about it as I have heard that it has the same famed 3.0 engine that was previously used in trouble prone Safari. Now you have been using this truck for quite sometime can you advise me on weather to buy it or not?? My budget is around 7L. So either i can get a new xenon or a used Scorpio.

You are right about me buying a Xenon, but I bought a used 2009 Xenon XT not the Xenon CC 3L.

The Xenon CC is same as my 2009 XT except Engine.
  • at 7.5L OTR its a VFM product
  • AC , PS , PW, Porvm.
  • Handling is quite good
  • killer looks
rgds,
Nikhil

Note:For more info on 3L engine ask any Sumo Gold owner.

Thanks a lot. Now, that I have lost Verito I really do need another vehicle. I have read your other posts too in various forums. Please advice if this vehicle would be suitable for making trips to places like Leh? We friends go for a long journey twice a year for 20 days + - 2. Is there any other vehicle you would advice? I am also considering buying a M&M Marshal and customizing it and making it like what xenon crew cab looks like, dual cabin and open at the end.
