Re: Chennai : Nitrogen Filling Stations

Guys looking for a good place to top up can check out MGM tyre store in Luz Corner, Mylapore, Chennai. They charge 100 for initial inflation and 50 for top up. Although a bit expensive, their machines are well calibrated and they screw a new nozzle cap every time you top up.

If you are living around Tambaram/Chrompet, then think about filling Nitrogen at the HP pump near the MIT flyover at Chromepet. They charge Rs. 10/tyre for initial fill and Rs. 5/tyre for the refill. I usually fill the Nitrogen here.

Re: Chennai : Nitrogen Filling Stations

It's not on the GST Road if that's what you're looking at. On the MIT Flyover you need to take the exit towards Chitlapakkam and after getting down the flyover you need to take the second left towards Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road and the HP bunk is located on the left immediately.

Re: Chennai : Nitrogen Filling Stations

I topped up with N2 at Sri Hanisha service station (IndianOil), but he charged 10/tyre which is high. This is the IOC petrol bunk just next to KFC in Kotivakkam in ECR.

Re: Chennai : Nitrogen Filling Stations

BP bunk in Indra Nagar (on the way to Bharat university from Camp road), Selaiyur, Tambaram provides nitrogen free of cost and you need to deflate the tyres before filling it with the other element for the first time. i.e if you are running on nitrogen and you plan to fill it with air, then you need to deflate and vice versa.

At this bunk, most of the time, the attendant will be busy filling normal air. you just go to the nitrogen pump, set the PSI and then plug the nozzle to the tyre's mouth and voila, tyre is topped up with nitrogen.

The attendant will not mind unless you cause any problem to the dispenser and he will also refuse to take tip if you fill air by yourself.

Re: Chennai : Nitrogen Filling Stations

Be careful about the Shanti petrol bunk right opposite the airport. This is the IOC bunk and the guys at the air/nitrogen filling station will DUPE you for a puncture. Dont fall for it. If you really have a puncture you have enough road side assistance (puncture shop) to help you.

Shanti petrol bunk - Right side of the road towards pazhavanthangal. After trident.

Re: Chennai : Nitrogen Filling Stations

MRF Tyredrome in Cathedral Road (near Music academy) offers nitrogen filling. They charge Rs.50/- per tyre. But top up is free. So whenever we are passing by we can check and top up nitrogen.

I have switched over to nitrogen in first week of November. Their service was good. They also do car washing and wheel alignment

Re: Chennai : Nitrogen Filling Stations

I use the Indianoil COCO outlet, at the signal adjacent to the Adayar Police station on LB Road, opposite to the Adayar depot.

It is free, assuming we buy fuel from them - just need to tip the attender. I usually tip Rs 20/- for all 5 tyres topup.

Re: Chennai : Nitrogen Filling Stations

The MRF T&S store at Singaperumal Koil is good if you are travelling out of Chennai (it is located on the other side of the road i.e road towards Chennai). I top-up my Nitrogen there regularly and is very good. 40Rs for 4 tyres.
