I have never felt that the 16 rupee premium was worth it, especially after being near the CoCo in SIPCOT. Should have specified that I was looking for non-Shell choices.

Re: Best Fuel Stations / Petrol Pumps In Chennai

The Madras City Lorry Owners Association (MCLOA) BP bunk at Guindy (next to Ashok Leyland Towers) has been shut for renovation. According to its manager, it may take upto 8 months to re-open the bunk. As of today, the underground storage units were being lifted out and transported out of the bunk.

This has been a no nonsense bunk for many decades. Hope it comes back and lives upto the same reputation.

This is the bunk I'm referring to.

You are talking about the BPCL between Leyland and Sofian Chambers on Mount Road. Not the COCO at the corner of Velachery road intersection opposite Ramada?

That old Bunk next to Trident has been consistently good right from the mid 1990’s. I used to fill my car(s) there as needed when I lived in Madras and my place of work was in that neighbourhood. Apart from there, I only used to use Balakrishna on St Mary’s Road consistently. Even now, when I come to Madras I use Balakrishna. They are very trustworthy folks.

I am also unable to find the value in paying such a premium for Shell. Considering that it mostly has detergents as additives. And anyway Shell (as far as I know, is supplied by IOCL) - I prefer to fill BPCL Speed or IOCL XP95 or HP Power in my ICE Cars.

Re: Best Fuel Stations / Petrol Pumps In Chennai

The three BP/HP/IOC fuel stations near Trident hotel are all good, in the same order of preference. The BP station adjacent to Spic building at Guindy is also okay. The next good one on the GST road as one proceeds towards Tambaram is the Shell station at Chromepet if one doesn't mind the premium on petrol price. A board announces they sell diesel at market rate though. I don't trust any other bunks in that stretch, though I have heard some good reports about the BP station at kadaperi. Never tried it so far.

Yes. The pump on the right hand side immediately after the Halda Junction signal.
