I think the best wayo to end this is to use an SPL meter at the location of the ear in both cases and turn up the amplifer volume calibrated by a meter.

Still you are quite senior. I was just born when you were designing your amps and speakers.

ok i went through some on my bookmarks and then i remembered the Sigfried Linkwitz had done a lot of work in this area in his effort to kill the distortion that non linear excursion creates...

I was going to PM this to JB, but i figured others might benefit from this too.

Sigfried's site address is:

I am sure that it can be achieved with good equipment and a good install. Cheers

amplifier choice

Hi Guys

I am back again.....Thanx for ur help so far.

I have decided that i will get Alpine 9847 HU and Amplifier from USA and Infinty speakers from India as i can get better service.

Sam i contacted Balmeet and he referred me to Parneet Paul.I will buy infinty spk from him.

But guys i need ur advice about the choice of amplifier.

I have zeroed on two...

1] Sony XM-4060GTX----http://www.crutchfield.com/S-nvJCHsh...20&I=158XM4060

2] Alpine MRP-F240----http://www.crutchfield.com/S-nvJCHsh...0&I=500MRPF240

Which is better? What i can make out is though sony delivers more power but alpine has better features.

And Navin u have mentioned many times on this website that HU with Preamp volt of 4 is better than 2 v,then howcome alpine delivers best sound?[Almost all alpine HU have 2 v preamp voltage.]
can i get good quality wiring/dynamat stuff from here?

Plz be quick friends..........

Thanx in advance.....

Ravinder

SSA Ravinder... Like Navinji said, its a no brainer... get the Alpine. We stock a complete range of materials for building boxes, grills, dynamat, cables, dist blocks, caps... whatever else you need is available here... so dont worry... get your equipment first

Ravinder of the two amplifier the Alpine is much better. But as you are in US (I guess) the best amp I can recommend is MB Quart Reference RA4200..great amplifer..to this second choice will be Alpine.

If you can then definitely go for MB Quart. Sending you the link for RAA2400 (2 channel) see if you can get RAA4200 also for the same price.

Yeah thats a very good deal but I guess Ravinder is looking for a 4 Channle amp and you get subwoofers packaged with only 2 Channel and mono amplifiers.

If he can afford he can go for both. It will result in cracking system.

4 Channel : MB Quart RAA4200
2 Channel : MB Quart RAA2400 + 12" or 15" Sub.

What car he wants to install it in (Don't remember)

Hi Guys

Thanx for huge response. Now i can say [ofcourse with ur help] that i have reasonable knowledge of car audio system.
And i own Getz,Ebony Black.

I live in Batala [Gurdaspur] and not in USA.Infact my relatives live there and one family is coming on 10th oct for marriage and my in-laws in Dec/Jan[cant wait that long].So i have to decide early so that i can get the stuff on 10th.[I hope they bring it as they will come with their bags full].

MB Quart RAA2400 is 2 channel amplifier and i need 4-channel one.
Also MB quart 4200 is out of stock.

If i go for MB Quart RAA2400 with Subwoofers,it will be beyond my budget [800$].My original budget was 600 and i also missed crutchfield's 15% discount. As there is very less time,my relatives may well have to buy from a store.

Well i can go for Reference RAA2400 2-channel amp
PWE 304 12" subwoofer package if i dont go for rear speakers. How about that.[To be frank,i dont need too much bass as i am a doctor] and i can always buy it later.I plan to add amplified tube later if i am not satisfied with speakers.

I can only prey that my relatives do have enough space in their bags for my stuff.

Plz keep coming with ur advice.

bye for now
