yeah..from right front one and its not that loud.Actually sometime i hear two simultaneous sound like heart sounds but bit louder though.
Its not louder when volume is turned up.
Also it occurs on using all function on remote/HU except volume functions.Infact i hear it also when i turn on the engine [not start it] and HU is already on [has not been switched off before turning off engine].

It sound like when u knock on some hard plastic.

I talked to JB on phone 2 days back and he advised me to exchange RCA output lead from amp, sound came from left front indicating some probelm with HU.[acc.to JB].He told me if it comes from same side after exchanging RCA leads, problem will be with amp or speakers.

Thankfully i am meeting both JB and Gunbir on 25th/26th.

I suggest you go for products already available in India. This way you will get service and support when you need it. Here is what I suggest:

HU - Sony CDX-F7710S - 7900.00 (approx)
4 ch Amp - Sony XM-504 amp - 5500.00 (approx)
Front Soundstage - Hertz ECX165 - 5140.00
Subwoofer - Hertz ES250D - 6290.00
Sub Box - Custom built for your car - 2000.00 (approx)

Check prices in your local and Delhi market, especially the Sony stuff. If you need any help, I can suggest a few dealers in Delhi.
Can you suggest me a good Single CD MP3 Front Loading Player for My lancer-I'm looking only for the System-Will stick with the OEM Speakers, I need a model pref in Black colour , as i feel silver mismatches the look..Kenwood is my first Pref- Budget around 5000 Max

16K less discount - 14K incl installation at Bhavi Motors in Santa Cruz.

at 30K (14+16K)
for 3K you can upgrade the front speakers to components and for 2K upgrade the rear to GTO series or leave the front and rear speakers alone and add a JBL 1200T sub for 6.5K
then add a 4 ch amp for 9K

total 14K + 5-6.5K + 9K = 28-29.5K

JBL is just an example. Blaupunkt sells the GTX series that is slightly cheaper than the JBL CS series and a ODx series that is a bit more expensive than the JBL GTO series. I suggest atleast listening to these 2 if not some other speakers as well.
CS 4incher for frnt =2.25k MRP

And CS for rear should be less than 4 k! NOw I doubt if your friends Hu was worth 9k!

and you cant fix a compo ( 5incher or 6 incher at the front of a santro without use of extra fibre works or sort which is gonna elevate the costs!

I sure hope it is the RCA lead. If it is the speaker I dont know if it can be restored to it's original specs esp the woofer.

check all wires to that speaker (from to XO to speaker).

Navin its the headunit which makes a pop noise, there is something wrong with the preamp i guess. It makes popping noise when u turn down the volume to zero, eject the cd, pause the cd, change the track etc etc.

In only one of the 4 channels? do the noises only come when the HU's controls are used or only when the remote?

Both when remote is used or it is done from the HU.

faulty cap in preamp. without a schematic one should not open these things. so doc would have to take it to an Alpine service station.

Problem seems to be with the 'zero-bit mute' feature. Whenever the system engages the zero-bit mute, eg track skip, zero volume, pause etc. the pop occurs as a loud bassy pop in the right channels.

zero bit would affect both right channels but doc said he only heard it in the right front correct? still finding the defective component would require the schematic / service manual.
