Hey,

Then look no further. I did not read carefully about the budget. But still try to look for Alpine you should get a good deal. You have to bargain hard in Singapore start by 50% less than what he quotes.

Am out of touch with prices for the International Brands but will try and get some info for you.

You can try and ask for Directed Audio or Viper Audio they are excellent amps and far better than Pioneer and should fit your budget. The distributor for their products details are below. Give my reference Jignesh Goradia of Audiodrome Sound & Security their distributor for India should give you a good deal hopefully.

You can get info on their products at www.directed.com.

yeah mclaren im reading but viper, every shop i entered has a max no. of pioneer hu speakers and amps lying around and the moment i enter they bring the pioneer catalogue out first.i had a a long chat with one of them and they said that pioneer was the most selling brand there and the ratio of pioneer sold with respect other brands is about 80/20 that is 80 ppioneer against 20 other brands.many didnt stock sony as they said it doesnt sell well.alpine could be found on in some of the shops but the prices were really high specially with warranty.been bargaining a lot too.and pioneer is available with bill and warranty or without so no problem.

mclaren, options that might fit under Rs. 15K is the Alpine MRV-F450. it is 5 channel amp and will offer you a much simpler install. also the Infinity Reference 5761a which is a 6 channel but 2 sub channels can be bridged to operate as 1.

The MRV-450 is expensive amp. Alpine India retails for around 25000...and sometimes it is available in grey market for 17-18K.

I have used MRV-450 quite a lot. Its a superb amplifier. Good build quality with amazing sound.

IMHO Alpine is a better choice.

hhmm..thanks for the info navin and JB..
one doubt that i have..
the pioneer 7100 pumps out 250w rms and the 6100 gives 60x4w rms ..compared to the alpine which gives 50x4 and 200w rms..so wont the pio amps give me better performance or is there something else to it that i havent understood(i was of the opinion that more rms means better amplification)..agree that installation becomes quite easy with the alpine but in what terms will u say the alpines better..pls clear my doubt guys...what to do ..

Alpine runs about 20K here, teh Infinity might be cheaper and might fit mclaren's budget. ofcourse th alpine is a nicer amp it cost 20- 25% more.

mclaren,

Alpine sounds far superior to pioneers...alpine has better built quality, looks good..and also offer much better control over the speakers and subwoofers. Don't go by the specs...Alpine V12 are very good amplifiers.

Also as it is single you will save on the cabling and distribution blocks and will be very clean install.

The only problem is that the amp is pretty big. It cannot be installed under the seats..it has to be installed in the boot.

In my view there are 2 reasons to install amps in the boot.

1. under the seat they will invariably get kicked and booted around but someone sitting behind.

2. in the boot, the amp is closer to the sub (applies only to amps driving subs) and that means less wire between amp and sub. now i know this is being a bit silly but less wire means better damping factor for the sub. better damping factor gives better control.

You are right navin...i also hate installing under the seats...but cars like Zen have space problems..and after putting a sub in Zen's boot there is hardly any space left out. And for that space the Alpine is a big amp to fit.

I would anyday choose Alpine over Blaupunkt, Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer etc etc.

yes but it will still occupy less space than the 2 Pioneers. it should offer better sound. it should be easier to carry from singapore. and it will prevent any mulitple amp (ground loops) fiascos. i would consider the pios as the 3rd option. Alpine if you get it for 15K otherwise Infinity or else the Pios.
