If you try to correct the mids with the 6x9s at the back, the image will be pulled towards the rear.[/quote]

If I disconnect the main tweeter from the 6X9 and get the speakers installed, what would happen to the sound image?

Would it still be pulled to the rear?

They are reliable. I was going through RMS ratings (which are generally lower on 5/6 channel, thus making them less powerful than a 4 channel + a mono combo) and what ever little experience I have using one.

Agreed Panky. But for most of us 50x4 + 300x1 is sufficient! :-)

You will get less highs from the rear speakers.

Meaning that two channel amp (bridged) for sub and 4 channel amp for speakers would be sufficient?

I had another thought.

If I let the stocks stay in the rear door and power them through the HU and install extra speakers in the parcel tray, powered through Amp, what would the overall sound in the car be like?

I am planning to use the holiday (26th) for install, God willing.

Too much confusion *pressing the reset button*!

@deep:
1. You have a sub, you don't need 6x9s in the rear. Usually 6x9s are put to get some feeling of bass when one doesn't have a sub

2. If the GTO507c components give you a feeling that mids are not strong enough, you will need to replace them with another make/model that has stronger mids (usually brightness is also a problem with such speakers). This will need a lot more auditions till you find one that suits you

3. I still feel a bit of retuning will do the job for you

Hi DeepFusion,

I agree with DerAlte. If you already have a sub, please avoid 6X9s at the rear. Even if you plan on keeping the 6X9s for now, have them powered thru the headunit & not thru the amp.

I am also telling you this through personal experience as I have JBL components in front & GTO 937s at the rear all powered thru a 4-channel amp (JBL 75.4) and a monoblock for a sub. The 6x9s are too bright and over power the components in front and give rear sound stage which is what you will never want and hate. I actually have to have the fader towards the front for it to be more pleasant. Ive learnt it the hard way :-)

yes...sort of...

Unless the subwoofer is 4ohm sub try using a monoblock amp for the subwoofer. monoblocks are designed for subwoofer use and are capable of driving 2ohm (the better ones even 1ohm loads) loads. subwoofer impedances often drop to 2 ohms even if the nominal impedance says 4ohms.

How should I retune?

The current settings on the HU are:

Eq: L0:M4:H5/L0:M3:H4

Parametrc Eq:

Low 40 Hz: Q2W
Mid 1KHz: Q1N or Q1W
High 10 KHz: Q1W

Loudness: Off

HPF: Off

Bass Boost : 3 or 4, but 3 seems better

SRC LV: 2

Fader: F4 (because of rear stocks)

Sound retriever: 2

Ok.

So, should I go in for 5X7 or 6X8 in the rear doors powered by the HU?

The manual of the sub says nominal impedance: 4 Ohms (it is Blaupunkt Gtb1200 MkII), sealed.

fair enough. that sub can be driven by a 2 ch. amp bridged into mono.
