Gurus my cars JBL 75.4 amp get heats up after 30-45 minutes of usages and front channels starts acting up, last year got it done and it was a weak soldering on pre amp but again this issue started occuring within a month, and it looks like more of cooling issue rather than weak soldering, so thinking of installing one cooling fan to keep the pre amp cool all the time, need some advice about where to put the fan and it should be blowing the air or sucking the air from amp.Thinking of putting fan with dual sided sticking tape on the top of shown location as per below attached pic, as heating issue is just below that area.Powering that fan wont be issue as they also uses 12V and can be activated whenever the amp powers up with remote power on.
Frankly speaking, those hole are insufficient for fan cooling. why not remove only the transperent cover
I am thinking of putting 2 fans one at same location shown as picture for sucking the air another one in other end for blowing the air and will cut the cover at other end for putting the blower fan.Removing the cover will kill the beauti of this amp.
Treat the disease. Not the symptoms.
Figure out whats making the 75.4 overheat.
Any good repairing shop in Bangalore?Heard from many guys that its usual for JBL and infinity amps.
how did you conclude the pre amp is heating up? 5.4 generally runs hotter than normal. there is rectangular axial flow fan specifically for amplifiers.
As last time my installer find out that one solder point in pre amp is getting heated up and loosing the contact from the preamp board, he did thick soldering on that and amp worked for another month without issue, now again its happenning.

Yes same link even i have gone through, looks like my idea of computer cooling fan is worth trying with some bling bling LED's.Will keep posted about the performance and how it went through.
buy good quality computer fans. cheap ones induce noise into the audio.
1. Where is your amplifier installed? If it is under the seat, then ensure that the mats/carpets are not covering it.
2. Have you checked for loose connections or short-circuits?
I don't think you'd need a fan. Car amplifiers are designed to work well with sufficient ventilation.
many of the jbls have heat related issues, may be they should have done active cooling for these high power amplifiers.
before the actual install do place the fan in actual place of intended installation and check for electrical noise.
Both amps are in the boot bolted behind the rear seat sufficient space for them to cool down, all connection are professionally done but cant help with JBL heating issue so going for cooling fan.
Before putting the fan i have to check for electrical noise.
