Guys,
I will be shortly buying a new car. Its almost certainly gonna be between the i10 Sportz and the Swift VDi. Haven't finalised on that bit yet but will be doing soo anytime over the next 2-3 days. But i have almost finalised the ICE equipment that would go in to it!
I have already sourced the following equipment.
Front Components - Hertz Mille MLK 165
Rear Co-Axials - Hertz High Energy HSK 165
Amps - Audison LRX 6.9 (6ch amplifier).
I will be bi-amping the Milles using the first 4 channel output from the LRX 6.9. The remaining 2 channels would power the rear co-axials.
I shall be getting the Kicker 0 guage 2 amplifier power kit (PKD1) shortly along with connection audison speaker wires and RCA's! Dynamat Xtreme would be used for damping the doors/boot. I am yet to buy a head-unit but i think i will go for the Alpine 9887.
Now i am on the lookout for a good sub-amp combo to compliment the above equipment. Sub would mostly be 2 X 12 IDQV3 or 1 x 12 IDMAX. I am mostly leaning towards the IDMAX. Either ways its gonna be used in a sealed box. I am looking for out and out SQ with a touch of SPL if at all i need to pump up the volumes for some 5 mins of show-off every now and then :D
Now guys i need help choosing a sub-amp to do justice to the above equipment. Here are the options
1. Audison LRX 1.1k Mono.
2. Audison LRX 2.9 2ch amp
3. DLS Ultimate A6 Mono.
I am getting either of the 3 at almost the same prices. Guys, please help me as to which one of the 3 would be a better bet for my requirement!
Thanks
Cheers
A tough choice as all of them are great amps. I think you should finalize the subs first and see what load (4,2,1 ohm) are you going to put on the amp. As you stated SQ is your main criteria, i would always stick with 4 ohm load. So best bet might be Audison 2 ch putting upto 900W @ 4ohm.

Thanks abhibh for the prompt reply! Well i have finalised the sub as well. Its going to be the Image Dynamics 1 x 12 IDMAX in a sealed box. I would be running the LRX 6.9 on 4ohm load entirely for the speakers. Have no idea what ohm load to run the sub-amp at to get the best out of the system in terms of SQ! I know all 3 amps in my list go down to 1 ohms. But i need help as in which amp to buy for 1 x IDMAX and what ohm levels to run the amp at...........stupid:
Cheers
PM hydashok; he should be able to comment about this as he too was in the market few months ago for a similar upgrade.

Both amps put out about 500W at 4ohms. I'd take the DLS but the Audison 1.1 might look nicer (symetrical) given that your other amp is the 6.9. Pick either monoblock.

Navin, wouldn't you prefer the Audison LRX 2.9 over the Audison LRX 1.1k? Both are Class AB amps. LRX 2.9 gives out 1 x 900w @ 4ohms whereas LRX 1.1k gives out 1 x 420w @ 4Ohms/ 1 x 800w @ 2Ohms/ 1 x 1090w @ 1Ohm.
The DLS Ultimate A6 mono is again an AB Class amp and claims 1 x 500w @ 4Ohms/ 1 x 870w @ 2Ohms/ 1 x 1200w @ 1Ohm.

You are going for iDMax 2 Ohm DVC or 4 Ohm DVC ? If its 2 Ohm then you can run the sub on 4 or 1 ohm. If its 4 Ohm you will have to run it at 2 Ohm.
I would go with a 2.9 and buy 1 iDMax 2 Ohm DVC.

My assumtion was ID Max D4. 2 coils in parallel will mean a nominal impendace of 2ohms and a minimum impedance that might be below 1.5ohms
http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/manu...DMax12D4V3.pdf
The 2.9 does put out more watts at 4 and 2 ohms but is it stable at below 2 ohms like the 1.1 or A6 are?
A woofer's impednace is not all resistive and impedance can go as high as 50ohms and drop as low as 1.5 ohms so I prefer to err on the conservative side. if the 2.9 is stable at 1 ohms (bridged) then I do not see a problem with using the 2.9.
Sir as far as I've seen in high end amps, multi-channel amps are rarely 0.5ohm stable (Requirement for bridging it at 1ohm)
I would definitely recommend the A6 as I have experience with DLS ultimate amps, my sub amp is running at a 1ohm load, and it barely breaks a sweat. It looks phenomenal, and is a strong amp.
If looking at Audison look at the SRx series, the LRx somehow fails to impress.

Doc. You do represent DLS dont ya?
BTW from Audison's stable I have only really liked the VRx but the other amps are cheaper and hence maybe better VFM.

Not since SSPL became the India distributors for DLS as they only stock the basic range in the DLS product line.
I am however a customer myself, running DLS ultimate speakers and amps in my personal car.
What's the budget for the Mono amp?
Over Audison and DLS it's got to be the DLS. But if it was Audison VRX and DLS ultimate than it would have been a difficult choice.

Budget in choosing 1 of the 3 amps in my option list isn't a problem really because i am getting the DLS and the AUdison amps at almost the same price (give or take 1k INR), DLS being cheaper than the 2 Audisons by 1k.:):)
If it's of any help to you, I am running a DLS A6 at 1ohm, which is feeding a pair of Hertz HX250D Subs, sounds very sweet with an SQ bias, can really hit hard as well, no issues with heat for me at 1ohm. Audison amps are equally as good, given the choice for the same money, i personally would go with the DLS.
Any amp used at 1 ohm need to cooled so choose a wise location while installing it.
