is this a good deal?

Hi everyone,
Im getting the delivery of my ritz on sat and want to add an audio system in the range of 20k +/-. I got a quote from a dealer:
Pioneer 3250 wid usb n aux==> Rs.5400/
option 1:
Auditor components 3-way (yes they are components)==>Rs.4800/
MTX 12" sub==> Rs.4500/
Kicker Amp 4 channel==> Rs.5500/
option 2:
JBL 6" components==> Rs.3300/
Jbl 12" sub==>Rs. 2800/
Jbl 4 chn amp==> Rs.5300/

The wiring et the rest will be the same irrespetive of which option i choose. My question is that is Auditor and MTX worth the premium over JBL considering there is not much discussion on them.

Guess i'll look at the HU when the car arrives and take a call on the HU.

I have one more question on the speakers, as suggested by jkd should i go for GTO608C on all four doors or should i put component speakers in the front door only and normal speaker in the rear door, what is the right thing to do here?

Also, if someone can suggest a reliable place in Mumbai to get the work done.
For installation try FM Drive Santa Cruz, Pankaj is the owner, very knowledgeable guy been in the business way over 10 years, he even let me use his imprint tuning kit free of charge. You'll need to upgrade your speaker wires if you using amps.

Got this from a wholesaler at Opera Hse, in the auto galli. Cannot recall the shops name but it is next to Preeti Trading Corp- the official dealer for Konig rims.

I am in the exact same situation. 2009 Gx still running on stock ICE setup. I have a budget of 15K, give or take couple.

But I am a bit handicapped when it comes to technical jargone used in this section. So it would be really nice if you can share your set-up, I 'll just implement it as it is.

@ Devil on Wheels - Will surely do that.

Right now waiting for the car, the ETA is now June 1st week.

BTW how is the OE setup, i mean how does radio, hindi, and rock/pop sound on it, and does it have ipod/usb connectivity

To connect a HU with only speaker level outs to an amp, should one use a line converter? Or directly connect the speaker level outs to the amp (assume the amp takes speaker level inputs)?

Which is preferable and why?

risks of connecting a phone to the aux in of the Music system

Friends -
I am sure there have been Questions on connecting phones to music system. But my question is not about how to connect the phone as I can connected it.

I have bought a new phone which has an output system like any mp3 player which I can connect to my Fiesta's music system (Original music system, no upgrades) through the Aux in.

The output is satisfactory but I want to know if there is any risk in doing so?
Will it in anyway damage the music system or the phone in anyway?

Thanks in advance.

Its fairly good as long as you are listening to the likes of Manna Dey, Mukesh, Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, etc. But the moment you switch on to something like Pop or Rock you do feel something missing. Heck, even the good old Bappi Da songs sound a bit bland on the stock set-up.

But I am planning to set-up a slightly more elaborate set-up with a computer added to it, which would take care of not just my music needs but also navigation.

My Swift has entry level Pioneer Headunit (it cost around 3.5-4K without Bill & Warranty) - with B & W it was around 6K.
I also got 2 pairs of Sony Xplod speakers (4 speakers) for Rs. 3200 with B & W.
Totally everything was around 8K with installation if I remember correctly.

This was close to 3 years back.
You could get a better Pioneer HU for the same price now.

No, there will be no damage to either the HU or the phone - it is meant to be connected that way. The only worry is that of electro-static discharge harming the phone while connecting or disconnecting. Just make sure you connect before you power up the HU and disconnect after you power down. Also touch a metal surface to drain any charge you might have accumulated on your body (you must have felt it on cold dry days).
