6x9s are designed to work in free air. But they won't have too much trouble working out of doors. You could remove the mid/ tweeter and use them as powerful midbasses, but the problem is that the good 6x9s are quite deep.

My 6x9's were fitted to the hatch door, and worked quite fine, and sounded less boomy than when they were in the parcel tray

Thanks Ajay, could they be directly used by taking the mid bass connection from the XO?

Also wouldn't an entry level 6X9 like Pioneer, JBL be better than the mid bass of entry level Comps like JBL & Illusion(EL series)?

I agree with the depth issue.

Yes, that would be the way to do it. I just meant that it would still be better to snip off or de-solder the leads running to the coaxially mounted mids/ tweets of the 6x9.

More Bass-Mids - Yes. Better Bass-Mids - Not necessarily. If you are taking this much trouble, aim at a nicer 6x9 than the Pioneer.

I've always felt the JBL GTO series 6x9s are pretty good at mids.

Guys,

Has any one here heard music from Apple Hi-Fi? it is warm and has a nice feel to it, may be I cannot describe it properly. I want speakers that sound like the apple hi-fi. Any suggestions please.

Yesterday had been to JBL showroom near lavelle road, he did not have the infinity kappa series for demo. Any place where I can sample multiple brands?

Thanks!

My colleague has an after market double din HU installed in his Innova. Every two months or so, the HU stops working. But as soon as you pull it out and then put it back, it works normally for the next two months when the cycle repeats.

Problem ?

Solution ?

Any idea on the prices of the following

Harmon Kardon Amp CA470
Hertz HSK 165 comp speakers
Hertz HCX 690 co-axial speakers

The car lounge guy is quoting the following

Harmon Kardon Amp CA470 -- 17.5K [MRP 25K] 30% discount
Hertz HSK 165 -- 19.5K [MRP 26K]
Hertz HCX 690 co-axials -- NA

Quote from TMC electronics

Harmon Kardon Amp CA470 -- 22.5K [MRP 25K] 30% discount
Hertz HSK 165 -- 23K [MRP 26K]
Hertz HCX 690 co-axials -- 10% discount [MRP 15K I guess dont recall exactly]

Is there any other place where I can check the pricing.

Thanks

My installer says he can create pre-amp outs in a HU which doesn't have any (e.g. the Fiesta OEM HU). I will not need a line output converter or an amp which accepts speaker-level inputs after that.
Is this really possible?
