So the actual price comes close to 5300 bucks + 3000 for shipping charges?.
What does this shipping charges include?

i think 3000 includes, shipping + customs.

so it this HU worth at his price ?

actually other option available is clarion-cz209 in same price range,

Amazon.com: Clarion CZ209 CD/MP3/WMA Receiver with iPod Control and USB Port: Car Electronics

i have no idea as i am new to ICE, locally in jaipur i can get only pio 3190 UB(6800) and alpine cde-100eub(7400) other than sony and JVC HUs.

so any idea which is good in this price range ?

Thanks

A friends wants to replace his Infinity Reference 475a amplifier with a JBL GTO-1004e and we were debating if doing so would really be a worthwhile SQ upgrade.

The JBL 1004's specs read -

Signal-to-Noise (dBA) 104dBA
THD 0.02% (rated power at 4 ohms)

The Infinity 475a's specs read -

Signal-to-Noise (dBA) 85 dBA
THD 1% at (rated power at 4 ohms)

The cost of swapping isn't too much (if he sells the old amplifier) and these figures do make the JBL look like a better SQ amplifier.

Whats the verdict - which amp has better SQ? I'd bought the same Infinity amp because he recommended it to me.

This is a quite pretty good HU. So who is sending the HU to you? Confirm whether the 3000 bucks also includes custom duty otherwise the govt. officials who work in the concerned dept. may confiscate it.

Guys

plz suggest me a good 4 Channel amp in the price range of 10 K to 11 K maximum. i can't go beyond that.

From the AMP u specify, I should be able to drive the EL 6.1 front compos as well as DLS 428 rear coaxials.

{ OR }

Drive the front compos EL 6.1 & 12" SUB throuh 4ch AMP & DLS 428 rear coaxials through the HU[ KENWOOD KDC - X693, sourced from US.]

The 4 CH AMP you guys going to specify should easily drive the stuffs i mentioned without any hassle.

NOTE:

PLZ SPECIFY THE 4 CH AMP [ 2 TO 3 MODELS IN EACH BRAND] SO THAT I COULD BE ABLE TO SWITCH TO ANOTHER IF ONE ISN'T AVAILABLE (As Buying place is trichy ). Plz mention the approx. price in grey as well as B/W..

My idea of brand is

1. KENWOOD
2. BLAUPUNKT
3. ALPINE
4. JBL
5. PIONEER.
6. GROUND ZERO - I wonder if it would be available in TRICHY.

Suggest me ASAP guys, Thanks in advance.

The difference is slight. Unless the swap is free or alomost so dont do it.

The 475 is a bit smoother than the 1004. the 1004 however is more balsy.

Contact Bass&Trouble for the Ground Zero amp. They are value for money and I have one in my car driving DLS 3way component speakers and a Bull Audio sub.

Vijay, The cheapest HU with the features you want is the Clarion 785. About 15K. I am told it does not support EU FM tuniing though. So you wont get 91.0 but you will get 92.3

Gurus.. Namaskar!

This morning, some water (about 1/2 ltr) spilled on the front passenger seats and seeped into car audio amplifier (installed underneath passenger seat). Since then the amplifier is not working.

There is some occassional noise in one of the front speakers even when the unit is switched off. I have unplugged the power lines from battery (after an hour or so).

What to do now?

Its a Kenwood KAC 6404 - 4 channel amplifier feeding GT5 components and CS subwoofer.

Take the amplifier out, open the back cover and leave it out in the sun for 4 to 5 hours. You may use a hair dryer too.

Then refit it. If you disconnected the power in time, it will work normally. If not, then you have to take it to a repair shop.
