@Techno:
Brand: Put-your-own-sticker type Made in China
Availability: Just about any car accessories dealer

Whoever designed this seems to have hit a sweet spot - this is all over the place.

WOW!! Looks like that this no brand player is just what I am looking for to replace in my Ikon, after the car perfume spilled all over the stock Ikon cassette HU and jammed all the buttons. After spending a fortune (by my standards) on my Spark ICE, I want a plain vanilla radio FM player within 2K as my dad who usually drives the Ikon refuses to let me install anything that costs more than 2K. Any more info about this no frills HU will be appreciated.

Which 2-Ch Amp (Germany Vs Swedan)

Hi,

I was looking for a good 2Ch amp that gives out 120-150W RMS per Channel. Searched and filtered exhaustivley.

Ultimatley narrowed it down to these two
Rainbow iPaul 2.400 - (130W RMS x 2, 400W RMS x 1 @ 4 ohms)
DLS RA20 - (130W RMS x 2, 440W RMS x 1 @ 4 ohms)

I am not able to decide as;
They are to be brought from US - so cant audition and buy them
Both are almost equally priced
I know both are great amps

They will be used to power the components
So need your help in finalizing this

Thanks in advance

I think you are splitting hairs. Both are good amps. I think there is little to choose between them.

Why the mix of so many different companies? I wouldf sugggest that atleast the front components and rear coax have to same sonic signature.

Just stick to fewer brands. The brands you mention are all well respected.

There are amny brands that make quality ICE. Listen to a few. Stick a dealer/installer who will be there if and when you have problems later. Look at the earlier installs of the installer.

Spend 10-15% of the ICE budget on damping, upgrading power wires and getting better RCA cables.

Tweeters for Optra

Hi Guys,

I need your help in getting tweeters for my optra, it already has 4 speakers (original ones) in all the 4 doors.
There is some space next to the car RC Lever (Lever used to open the car gate) which look like space for tweeter...but not sure.. even asked GM A.S.S guys and even they were clueless.

I dont want to get external tweeters installed on the dashboard, hence it is possible then please do advise which brand/make should i go for.

Regards
Shantnu

To get the same sonic signature for front and rear, he will have to go for Reference Series coaxes, and that will hike the budget. And, the Classic/ Basic series coaxes sound completely different from the Reference Series so sticking to the brand doesn't help much there.

And, in car, I have never worried about sonic signature of front and rear speakers as such. Mainly because you tune the system such that in the front, you don't hear or hear very little of the rear speakers to be able to tell tonal differences, and likewise for rear seating positions. Unlike HT, where you have to get at least the fronts and centre to be tonally similar.

As far as I remember 10" model wasn't imported by the old distributor. Check with SSPL.

That is for tweeter mounting. If I remember well, it's a very tiny space so get some component set with a 19mm or smaller tweeter.

Reposting here: need to choose fast

I have a friend flying in from the US next month who's agreed to carry a set of components for me.

The candidates (right now) are -
  • Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1
  • JL Audio C5-650x
  • Alpine SPX-17PRO

I'm on a 300 USD budget for the comps and would appreciate your suggestions.

Can I get Illusion's Carbon series for under 300$ - If yes, where? I don't see any online stores that stock Illusion's products.

What do I pick ?

why don't you consider the image dynamics and rainbow comps. With 300$ limit, you can get them easily.
BTW it will be very difficult to get the Illusion carbons from any online stores.

Heard it in Frank Mehta's car and it was just fantastic.
I'll say, go for it.
