Yes one of the best options on the Swift for the tweeters is the doors. The OVRM pods have handles to control the OVRMs on them and the dash means that the tweeters will be surface mounted leaving them at risk to an over zealous car cleaner.

i have been facing a strange issue with my speakers. my setup is
illusion electras in front and jbl 936e on rear and a kenwood 5203 2 channel amp to power the front comps.Source is a pioneer HU.Cables used are boss fake(both rca and power cable).
The problem is my speakers distorts while honking. Is this a problem regarding to the grounding of the amps or HU.

Your horn relay needs to be replaced - dirty oxidized contacts. Also, perhaps you could try putting a small value capacitor (<1mf; >50V) across the horn.

General grounding problem at the amp etc. will make the "alt noise" devil and other ghostly noises (not necessarily related to honking) appear in the sound from the speakers.

Fro 15K your best options are a simple HU for about 6K and 4 Coax speakers for about 9K. The size of the Coax speakers would be dependant on the mounting holes provided but a pair of 6x9s in the rear would help.

Was going through TOI yesterday's edition of Zigwheels and there was a mention of HD Radio HU.

Does anyone have any information about the same ? And its practical usage in India ?

Exploring the thought if its worthwhile to go for it.

Thanks a lot

I think the HU will be useless in india since we doesnt have that facility.

Ameet.
15k.
Navin ji, won't it be better for him to go for a HU + Front + Amp and power the rear (stock) off the hu.

Something like.

HU - 6k
Front compos - 4k
Amp - A 2 channel from JBL or a 4 channel. A JBL 504 / GT5 range would do.
- 5k.
Wiring etc 1k.

I think this will be better than a front + rear off the HU combo.

Most 2 ch amps are not VFM. Think about it. You can get a 2 cha. amp for 5K and a 4ch version of the same amp for 7K.

I have not seen components for less than 5.5K (I think the JBL GT5 are about the cheapest I have seen). Also I am not sure if there are any 6K HUs that offer front pre out (most HUs that offer front pre out offer front and rear pre out). In the US you can get a HU for about $120 that has 4 pre outs but I have nto seen any in India. Most 4 pre out HU are above 7K at the recognised shops.
JVC KD-HDR20 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com
Pioneer DEH-P3100UB CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

With a budget of 22K he could get
HU (7K) with front and rear pre outs
4 ch. Amp (6K) - the Blau GT4 special sells for 6K in Mumbai
Front components (5.5K)
Rear Coax (3.5K)

As you can see there are differenet opinions for the same budget. Neither is wrong or right.

Discalimer: I have many friends (both in India and outside) for whom Audio is a livelihood. For this reason alone I cannot recommend the grey market. I have seen many of my friends who offered honest service and put in hard work to build a brand only to loose it all to the grey market operators (in India, the Middle East and even in Singapore and Thailand).

my 2 ch amp ( kenwoodKAC 5203D) must be among the cheapest ones. my HU has only one pair of pre outs ( the amp has speaker level inputs tho), and my budget had only room for 2 channels. got the amp for ~3.5k. Sounds fine driving my alpine sub ( bridged output = 150W, sub rated power =200W)

After going through various threads and field reviews, even after searching the thread to avoid duplicity, more after PMing certain members (awaiting their reply) I decided to post my query.

Guys, I'm looking for a Sub and Amp setup within a limited budget of 10k-15k. I'll require its services only for 10% of playing time and that too for Punjabi beats. I'm looking forward to buying Amps from the grey market; the following have been suggested by Manan (Was very kind to provide the info):
JBL 1004
Kenwood 8401
Kenwood 8404

8401 seems to be a favourite here but availability seems to be an issue. I didn't get much information about JBL on the forum but Delhi stores are praising it.

1. Can anyone please confirm the Grey market price of JBL and Kenwood amps and tell me the best for my requirements. Further suggestions are always welcomed.

2. Moreover, I'm focussing on Bull Audio SW-12 sub. What say?

3. Wiring, I've heard Kicker is available for as low as 1k. Please confirm and any other good alternatives. Bull's basic wiring is being considered but it's too heavy for the budget.

Thanks
Tanveer Singh

No the point is that a 2 x 50W amp costs 5K (Rs. 50 per watt) and an amp fo the same design and topology but 4 x 50w amp costs 7K (Rs. 35 per watt) the later amp is far better value for moeny.

75.4 Dead :-(

Hi,

Earlier in the day, my trusty amp, the JBL GTO 75.4 went off for a while and came back on in a few minutes. I thought nothing of it as i was out of town and was on my way back home.

Just a short distance away from home, it died out again. I parked and went on to check.

The amp lights, neither power nor any protect lamps are off. There were no sparks and no smoke/burnt smell either.
  • What could be the possible problem and where can i get it checked ?
  • Where is the official service center ?
  • What are their terms & conditions for carrying out repairs on out-of-warranty products?
Could someone help me out

P.s. I stay in the western suburbs of Bombay.

Cheers
