Did you really mean what you wrote? Doesn't sound right though, never heard of someone getting their ears from US!

Best Buy does carry Infinity. Alpine 9887 doubtful, Hertz definitely not. Check on the Best Buy website for the items they carry.

dry ice, whats your car ?

your profile says its an alto. Unless you're willing to cut your door panels to install speakers, coax on the dash will do fine

for the amps, if you plan to do it in stages, get a 4 ch for the front + sub, and run the rears off the HU in the meantime

but get some good 4" coax in front with good power handling

Thats what I told too.

See this link Best Buy of best buy's preview for doorbusters (those who come first). All they have are some TV/cam/GPS stuff. This is the general case of popular stores.

I don't think these popular stores have all the mid-fi/ hi-fi brands available (some brands available with some stores) and they ever offer Thanks giving discount to these items.

Bestbuys has Infinity Kappa PA60.9CS for $250. No offer or no Thanks giving discount. But it is a good price.

@Vamsi - try your luck fo these items in Thanks giving discount, else go to a good specialised store/reputed online store and buy from there.

Best place to search for what is available for Thanksgiving discount or not is Black Friday. Check the link for Best Buy, for example. There are no guarantees of prices or availability, but a lot of desi bhais in amrika swear by it. Some queue up at 0600 to get the deal they want before the item is sold out.

Vamsi, a known devil is better than an unknown friend. Though the offers on CC online sound enticing, you will never know whether a certain brand / model is good for you unless you listen to it - that's what greenie was saying.

A better way of doing it would be auditioning locally, and then looking for deals in US for the models that you want. For a model that you do not know, how else would you establish whether it is at all worth paying even the reduced rate?

BTW, the second link is out of KL, Malaysia - you might as well import directly to India.

^^ RDS means Radio Data System. It is a communication protocol standard implemented by European Broadcast Union. It deals with sending digital info using conventional FM. RDS can be used in many info like traffic data, travel info, additional info on music or programmes aired by radio stations. Users can listen/select these additioanl info by using an RDS enabled radio which is actually coded in the aired signal and needs to be decoded by an RDS capable system only. I think NRDS is some version of RDS, I may be wrong. If NRDS is a version of RDS, then these HUs can be useful in coutries where RDS enabled programs and services are aired.

I have recently purchased a Indica Vista Aura Model which comes pre-installed with a Clarion HU, 4 speakers & 2 Coaxial. Although the sound quality is decent, I seriously miss the punch that I used to get in my earlier car.
My plan was to install a 2 Channel Amp & install a sub woofer (bass tube) in the boot. I need to keep it removable so that I can use the boot whenever I wish to. I have spoken to the showroom guys & they have assured me that the system can accommodate the same.
Can the Gurus please throw some light on this? I am open to other alternatives also.

Consider a speakon connector if you need to do this. Also most Authorised showrooms cannot match the price anf variety of goods your ICE dealer can offer. Find a good well recommended ICE dealer in your neighbourhod nd check out his offerings.

Most on this forum have not been happy with Sony Speakers. Besides that piece of advice I'd advise you to stick to the big brands not brands line Dapic, Ultimate, etc.. Also I have notcied there is a brand called Velocity. This is not the same as Blaupunkt's Velocity.

Adapter for laptop

Hi,

Need your help regarding choice of adapter for laptop.
i am planning to use dell laptop (inspiron 6000) in wagonR.
i have to travel to pune this month. (so want to use this laptop untill my wagonr gets ICED.)

the accessories section of dell (india) doesnt have anything related to DC adapters or inverters.i did find details of DC adapters mentioned against PDA use in some manual.

i did search the forum and got some threads discussing about inverters and DC adapters.
i am not sure which one to buy. i need something which is reliable and wont damage my laptop.

i would like to know whether anyone has recently bought such an adapter in bangalore?

Chetan, your best bet would be a small inverter which converts 12VDC from the cigarette lighter socket to 220V AC. VA rating should be roughly at least 50% more than the AC VA as given in the rating plate of your laptop's AC adapter.

A DC adapter has to be specific for you laptop model (DC voltage, current rating, VA rating - check the rating plate on your current AC adapter; also plug suitable for your laptop's DC socket) and cannot be used to power anything else.
