Hi

My good friend just booked i10 Asta with Sunroof and we need advice for ICEing..car is to be delivered in mid November so we have some time to finalize the setup.

He is mostly listening remixed bollywood songs/hip hop etc..
Budget is around 30-35K excluding HU as car comes with integrated HU and

we do not want to spoil the OE look.

Yesterday we checked few shops. Most of the guys suggested 12" on

rear tray with 6X9 in rear and front compos..

After talking with the dealer who seemed to have good knowledge(Decent Motors) we short listed following

JBL Power Series compos in front door
JBL JBL GT5-1204BR SUB
JBL JBL GTO1004 amp to run compos+sub
and if needed co-axial in rear door.
some Chinese wiring kit

the whole setup was coming near 37K..

Now any suggestion?
some queries.

1)Any damping?
If yes then where? No dealer even knew about it.

2)Do we really need 6X9 for his listening tastes?

3)where in Surat can I listen to other brads like Ground Zero?

Convey our congrats to your friend.
Good choice of equipment there. JBL power series will be good for his listening preferences. You can opt for rear coaxials on the door as it will complete your sound stage. Get coaxials from the same series as your front components.

Contact Bass&Trouble to know about Ground zero and Illusion. Other brands like Rainbow, Bull audio etc.. are managed by Gunbir. Focal, Kicker etc.. are managed by PTC (not a member here). Contact each for their brands.

your main concern should be arranging and asking your installer about how he will split the single preout provided by your stock HU into the two preouts you will require for your setup

I do not get you much here but all installers said that a 4 chanel amp can be added but not additional mono block or 2 channel..

Gurus please help.is it problematic to add a 4 channel amp on OE HU?

@ Speedzak :
Thanks for the suggestions. Now need to search for dealers selling those brands in Surat..

...
It all depends on whether the OE HU has Pre-outs or not. If it doesn't, then one has to either use speaker-level to line-level converters, or select amplifiers which accept speaker-level inputs.

For adding an additional amp, there would be 2 cases:
* If using an sl-to-ll converter, one can use a Y-cable to split the signal to connect the 2nd amp
* If the 4-ch amp has a Line-out (many amps from Blau, JBL etc. do), the second amp can be connected to the first amp's line-out

Select your amps carefully, and be patient. If you don't get right one directly in Surat, get them from Mumbai.

the blaupunkt about 175-180 rms @ 4 ohms
the JBL 1004 bridged 300 rms or more @ 4 ohms
3001 mono - 175-180 rms @4ohms - 225rms @2ohms and 300rms @1 ohm

i think the 1004 would be best since it solves your component AND sub amplification

if your sub is a 2 ohm dual voice coil then you can conect the coils in series and play it from the bridged op of the 1004 , or connect it in parallel and connect to the mono.
both amps in this condition would offer the same power to the sub ( i.e about 300 rms)

Called hyundai dealer and he said u can add 4 channel amp to stock HU.

So now I think we can go ahead with JBL JBL GTO1004.

or I thought of another option
get JBL GT5-A604 and run JBL GT5-A3001 mono amp from the preamp out of the 1st amp.

so which will be better option?

and please comment on the whole system we shortlisted which I posted in my previous post

consider the mono only if your woofer is a dual voice coil.
if not then the 1004 will definetely have more power than the mono

We are thinking for JBL GT5-1204BR which I think is not dual voice coil..So 1004 will be better..Thanks.
