The stock 'area' can be used. We'll need to screw a spacer there and screw the speaker onto the spacer. 5.25" will ne easier to accommodate, but hey, when you're putting a spacer there anyway, go for 6.5". It will be worth it

Hydra (no ji )

My mistake, somehow i'd gotten it into my head that the Kenwood 8401 is 50 x 4 WRMS when its actually 60 x 4 like Blau and JBL. Thats why i never considered it as an option. BTW, have you listened to the JBL A604 and would you recommend the kenwood amp over it as well ?

I'd listened to the Kenwood amp once with Alpine S-type 6.5" coaxials and an S-Type 12" Sub at another time and between the two I think the Kenwood amp souded like it was giving more power. It was driving the sub reasonably well (in a ported encl.).

Not a very fair comparison, I know (different times, different equipment, different music & different cars). Going by the numbers, both are 4 x 60w (and 2 x 180w) amps, and maybe on paper (other specs, the Blau looks a shade better). Also, I have used amps of both brands long back, and I've always felt the Kenwood was better (though I'd moved from the Kenwood to the Blau).

The Blau amp is good VFM all right, but IMHO when we have a better option in the same price range (ok, the Blau is with B&W, but the Kenwood is not) I think the better sounding amp should win

And no "ji" please.

Didn't see this earlier. Govi's Ikon has 4" stock provision on the bottom of the front doors. I'd listened to his ICE a few months back. But I think all the newer ones have 5x7 stock locations.

Frankly, I haven't listened to either amp at length (I've just listened to one setup each of both) to really compare them. I liked how they both sounded with the speakers they were paired with (The GT5 amp was paired with GT5 comps and 6x9s; the Kenwood was paired with Alpine Type-s Coaxials & a 12" Alpine Type-S sub). I'm sorry if I sound non-committal, but I don't think it is fair to pass judgement when I myself am not sure.

Does it make sense to change the Sony 4 chl (666 Watts) amp with Kenwood amp. Dont they both have almost the same configurations. Will Kenwood amp provide better output compared to Sony.

The Sony 554/504 amps are a bit grainy in sound. I found that irritating but there are good VFM.

The ear is "log" not "linear". Convert these power differences to db (20 log (P2/P1) ) and then decide. It takes a 3db difference to consistently notice the differnce in volume with Acapella/vocals the difference required is less (1.5db can be noticed) with Trace hip-hop electroncia etc.. 3db is about right.

Oops, how could I forget! Maaf karna bhai, but because I am not familiar with these new technologies, I have not been able to exploit its potential to the fullest.

You would actually recommend someone putting speakers on a sunvisor ?? Now seeing that would be a first for me !

Anything is possible while playing aound with acoustic phase. It would basically depend upon lot of factors like choice of euipment, car cabin acoustics, level of SQ required... and so on.

read my post carefully LBM, they are in the dash stock locations. How do you expect me to take pics at this stage? When the install was carried out, I forgot to carry my cam along. BTW, they are not that bad.
