hello mates ,

I need help with ICE setup for my SCORPIO . I will be taking delivery in 2 weeks and thinking of junking the stock setup.

My budget is around 70-80000 .
i dont have anything in my mind yet , but looking for what the gurus have in mind..

A list of all the brands of HU+amps+components...etc that i should consider would be really helpfull.

Thanks.

Gents,

How good(or bad) are Earthquake focus 5.2 components compared to similarly (less) priced JBL compos (GTO-607 I guess)?

Quoted price for earthquake focus : 5400/-

The installer I'm talking to insists that earthquakes sound better than JBL.

Anyone here got EQ focus components in their ICE setup?

Try and hear both if possible. That will make it easier for you to end up buying the JBLs.

I did hear Earthquake components , they sure sounded great , at least to my nearly tone deaf ears , and it'd be tad difficult to get him to setup JBL's for demo.

I must admit that it was the first time I ever heard of this particular speaker brand , but the price difference and the installer singing paens to it got me little curious.

as we all know its started raining heavily all over, i need some tips on keeping my compos safe from water.
i am observing that even if i keep the glass a bit open the water droplets fall over near the tweeters. as soon as i saw this i closed the window and operated with AC throughout. also when i use the wiper the wiper flushes the water over the right side of the window and the water comes in and drops over the tweeters.

how do we protect the compos fitted in the door. is it that they will immediately get damaged if rain drops fall on them?

most car audio speakers are a bit water resistant. you cant dunk them in water but a few drops on the cone/dome will not harm them.

During 26/7 my car was stuck in the floods of Mumbai and we had seat deep water in the car. After the car dried out (3 days later) we turned the stereo on and it worked fine.

Tone deaf ears, lol. Whatever sounds good to your ears is what matters. That said, I have never personally liked anything from the Earthquake lines. Maybe you could check with some other installers and/ or fellow Team Bhpians to hear out JBL etc.

The Illusion Electra coaxes on my front doors soaked under water for 3 days during the '07 monsoons.

Car was in workshop for a month thereafter. Turned on the audio after the car repairs. One speaker gave up in 3 days. The other is running strong till date - 8 months since.

Sorry to read this. Can the defective speaker be repaired to its original condition?

That is really wonderful! I have tried getting speakers repaired, through specialist shops in Kolkata, but the results were never really satisfactory.
