IIRC, possibly the only 755.6 in use in India was imported specifically based on a need expressed. ;-)

Advice For Power Acoustiks Hu Ptid-5300

Guys ,

I want to upgrade the ICE for my INNOVA from Pioneer 5060 to a DVD player .

Need to get some which has DIVX /USB / SD / IPDOD (in order of preference)compatibiity.
Preferably with a Screen . I will attach a bigger screen in the Middle row.
I looked at the below model which I could get from U.S
Power Acoustk PTID-5300 (ptid5300) , In-Dash Head Units, Receivers, In-dash DVD Players (with monitor) - Sonic Electronix

I think this has every thing in it which I need. I am not sure of the brand name and quality.
This is dirt cheap i.e less than 11 K INR. Would you recommend me to get this or to buy some else locally from Mumbai.

Since Innova is a 2 DIN I assume this will fit easily.

Techno, the 755.6 / 5350 like most 5-6 ch. amps are almost as big as a 4 ch. amp and a small class D mono amp. Ground Zero (B&T) and Audison might also have 5 ch amps locally available.

Power Acoustik has no service in India. If soething does go wrong you will have to dump it.

as you can see from the links below Power Acosutic and NESA OEM from elsewhere, not very confidence inspiring.

Power Acoustik PTID-5800 (ptid5800) , In-Dash Head Units, Receivers, All CD Receivers - Sonic Electronix

NESA Vision NSD-580T (nsd580t) , In-Dash Head Units, Receivers, In-dash DVD Players (with monitor) - Sonic Electronix

The above 2 untis had everything I was looking for even Alpine style controls but I do not expect them to sound very good or last very long.

Hello Gurus,

Need your advice once again.

I'm going to Singapore & KL next week & was hoping to buy a HU & speakers there. They're for my new Getz 1.3 GLS.

I'm interested in the Blaupunkt Hamburg MP57. I've been advised by you guys to go for JBL GTO607c speakers for the front & JBL GTO937 for the rear.

I'm from Chennai & have made preliminary enquiries for all above models here.

Blaupunkt Hamburg MP57 - approx Rs. 16,000/-
JBL GTO607c (1 pair) & JBL GTO937 (1 pair) - Rs. 6,000/- (without b & w)

My budget is Rs. 15,000/- max. I've enquired with Blaupunkt Singapore by email & they've emailed me saying that the Suggested retail price for Hamburg MP57 is S$699 which is more expensive than the price in Chennai.

What would you advise? Does it make sense to buy in Singapore - would I get a better price there for the above units? I'm prepared to forget about the Hamburg MP57 if it is priced out of my reach. I would rather go in for a head unit that has USB slot & Aux input (and SD card input if possible).

If you can also guide me where I can buy these in Singapore/ KL, it'll be very helpful. Need not necessarily be with b & w.

Looking forward to your valuable suggestions.

regards

krishnan

If you plan to check out stuff in Singapore, do it at the Sim-Lim Tower and across the road from there at the Sim-Lim Square. Then walk about 15 mins and check at the Mustafa Centre, which, BTW, is 24X7.

I just returned from a 2 week Singapore work trip. Did get a chance to check out Mustafa center, which stocks only Sony and Pioneer HUs and speakers. Pioneer 5050 was SGD 210 (Rs 6300) and Pioneer 6050 was SGD 320 (Rs 9600). I could not see Sim Lim Square as it closes at 9 pm and I could not reach in time.

But if you do get to go there, check out Edison Electronics (on the GF, called 1st Flr in Singapore) and another shop (forgot the name, but its right in front of the elevator door on the 3rd Floor). Those are the only 2 shops doing car audio in Sim Lim.

Sing and KL are usually more expensive than India. India has come of age.
For 15K check our JVC's HU (9K with USB) and JBL's GT5 or Blau's GTO series of coaxial speakers (7K for 2 6" pairs).

Some time back (about 1 year ago) the local (Mumbai) Blau dealer told me it was not avaiable in India.
