thump at low-moderate levels is possible. but thump as in "12" Pio in free air" thump just wont happen.

what you can get albeit at low levels from a good 5" woofer is well defined midbass.

Guys,
Need to decide on what front components to get for my Lancer. Had pretty much decided on JBL GTO607c's, but found them a tad bright (i.e, high on treble) in a friend's car. Even after fiddling with the eq. settings on the HU, it remained a bit much for me.
What other options do I have in that range? Comps that are not as bright, but have a comparable overall quality as the JBLs?
Hertz, Pioneer, Kicker....?
Any suggestions will be appreciated. Need to make up my mind asap.
Thx!

They are a little more expensive but why don't you try Infinity's & see if you like them?

you can also try the illusion audio components they are also good. I have heard them in Mugen_Power Innova install and they were not bright. but I would comment them as smooth.

@l_b_m: getting them in cal will be a problem. also, how much would they cost? i'm talking about the model in a similar range to the 607c.

@ishan: i did listen to an infinity setup, but that seemed a little bright too (not sure what the eq. settings were though). read on some sites that they are pretty bright. have u heard them?

How about DLS components? Are they good (SQ, brightness etc)? Any ideas about the cost and model no. of comparable products?

Gurus,
I have a pair of Infinity Kappa 42.7i (2 ohm rated), Pioneer TS-A6991 (4 ohm rated I think). Can i connect these to JBL CS60.4 amp? Please advice.

Found this Power series loaded enclosure in web site. Thought I'll share with you.

Thanks Samji.
The JBL P1220BR is available in India? Just curious.
I think it has option for neon tubes inside.

Illusion has launched a new series named the Electra Series and I heard them in Bass&Trouble's car. For Rs. 6,490/- they outclass many speakers at twice the price. The 6x9's sound as subs and cost Rs. 5250/-. The 12" DVC sub at Rs. 5,250/- is an absolute steal when it offers 400W rms! PM Bass&Trouble for more info. I have heard this setup run on a very very basic amplifier from Ground Zero and it sounded perfect for my listening tastes.

Which series did you hear? The 2007 series are less bright than the eariler ones.

the Illusion audio comparable to JBL 607 is for 6.4k that is Electra series very good component kit.

About the DLS , I happened to listen to there classic range and it was a very bad experience , yes guys the classic range of DLS is not liked by me as the tweeter was very bright even more than the JBL 607 , but the rest of the things were good. ok mids and good midbass.

The Ex series in Electra says 'reverse magnet technology'.
Any idea what does that mean?

Here is a link that shows the 'reverse magnet' based speaker in three views.

diyAudio Forums - illusion audio nd-12 and infinity beta 300

It is a unique driver design, where the magnet is a neo magnet (hence much smaller than a comparable ferrite magnet), and mounted on the front of the speaker rather than behind to reduce the mounting depth to nearly half. There are other speakers that use this design, and more that will use it in the future, besides Illusion Audio.

Currently, the Lucent and Carbon series use such an arrangement for all speakers and subs, with the exception of the compression horn, of course. The EX series is not productionized. The EL series is the ferrite motor equivalent of the Lucent series.
