Welcome, Kapil! Fellow Palio owner here.

In addition to what Sam said:

The front speaker grilles look oval, but the stock pods take 5.25" to 6.5" speakers. 5.25" without mods and 6.5" with a spacer.

The rear stock pod takes 5.25". I think you had better leave the parcel tray alone . If you want to install ovals in the back, you should ideally replace the stock parcel tray with an MDF Tray (you will get one in all car-audio joints). There is a flat plastic moulded area (on the inside of the hatch-door) on which the MDF tray will rest. If you paste a layer of A/C foam there, the MDF tray won't rattle.

I doubt that he has dug up the thread (backward!), I think he has taken up a challenging job of reading the whole thread...because he is referring to the 1st page and your 1st day at tbhp! I had tried doing this once, but obviously had to give up as this thread is huuuuuge

There are many specialty brands, that are constantly being discussed in this section. Do a bit of reading.
Kapil, JBL is in the list of specialist speaker companies too, and just like Pioneers are this forum's favorite HUs, JBLs are the favorite among speakers because they offer good price/performance. Guess Sam is not making a direct reference to it so that it doesn't look like product promotion (which is not supposed to be allowed here). If this continues, I think one day he will remove the link to this site in JBL ads and we will stop seeing people who's answer to the question "how introduced to tbhp?" would be "through JBL ads!"

santosh, there are few companies that make good HUs and good speakers. Blaupunkt and Pioneer may be the closest one gets to a single brand system.

At home single brand systems or single brand electronics may make sesne becuase one one can stacks the CD player over the Amplifer so a Roksan-Marantz combo might not look nice but in a car the amps are hidden so cosmetics are not a big deal.

I for one prefer the "Best of Breeed" appraoch.

Gurus,
Due to intentions of selling my ikon, i removed all the ICE. :(
Now, Im intending to keep the car and i've got just the OE ford speakers in the front.
My ears are bleeding when i listen to my songs. They're so crappy compared to the Altec Lansing MX5021 at home and the tiny JBL speakers in my laptop that im :frustrated:.
My queries are:
1)Im assuming that the stock size in the Ikon's front is 5.25".
So, is it possible to use 6.5" components in the stock pods without any major mod?
2) Does the Pioneer 6750 HU have enough power for the components only?

If you had just removed the ICE earlier, why don't you just reinstall it baba??

And BTW, answer to both your questions are YES!
The first one will need some spacers. Not a big mod.

Sometimes using spacers mean that you cannot use the stock grill you you might loose the stock look.

I've given my Subwoofer off to a BHPian who ICE'd his Gypsy.
And I think i'll use the pio 6990 and my 6000F amp in the next car (if i manage to procure one).

I know that a 6.5" will fit in the swift with a spacer.
But, i doubt it will fit with the stock grill in my ikon.
Can someone who's done an install in an ikon comment?
Sam, Where art thou??

If i remember rightly the ikon grill is part of the door pad a rectangular piece with the map pocket all a single piece.

In that case I really doubt a 6.5" driver will fit mainly because that grill is already very small.

Correct,Vidyut!
I once removed the grill myself and found that the stock speaker is larger than grill.

Then just get 5.25 components na!
You will not be very happy. But the car will be happy, grills will be happy, speakers will be happy, installers will be happy, car door will be happy!
So, how selfish do you want to be?

I agree here but If you want to your ears to be happy then go for the 6.5.

Does that mean that there won't be any significant difference between the OE Ford Speakers and the 507Cs?
