Funny thing is it happens with certain cell phones. For example with my phone no such problem but when my dad's phone rings it happens.
Your dad's phone is probably radiating more power than your's. Try moving the phone away from the HU. This way you can also find from where the noise is being picked. As the phone comes closer to the culprit, noise level should increase.

BTW, is FM that bad? I find it quite enjoyable with a good tuner/system. Talking from sound perspective, completely ignoring nuisances by RJs, commercials and also the lack of choice!

using a 4 inch speaker with a amp would not help much so it is better to go for a 6.5 in the door . it will result in much better response.

Which 3-way Hertz model was used in this case? From the color of the cone it looks like the Energy series.

Couldn't figure out which panel the XO was being put on.

Even I was planning to change the speakers on my wife's Santro.

Yes, those are the HERTZ ESK163 (Now discontinued, new version out soon, PM me for sneak peek). The XOs were put on the kick panels.

No Tanveer, they make the "Chamkeela" brand of speakers which are designed specifically so that songs by Chamkeela (the artist!, for more details ask Panky, he's a die-hard fan!) can be played on them

Yeah, I know - LBM's setup is legendary here! Unfortunately the mix of comments it attracts would remind an uninformed reader of the adage "Dilli ka laddu, jo khaya woh pachhtaya, jo nahin khaya woh bhi pachhtaya"

I was referring to @jkdas's post about the Santro set up. Gunbir cleared that doubt.
