Navin, I just found something wrong with my setup. When i was playing some Beetles CD, i noticed the vocals were coming from the left side and they were completely absent in the right. I used Balance to confirm that. The right speakers were just playing music without vocals. Again that differed from track to track. For some tracks it was ok.

So, thats some problem with wiring right? Is there anything particular i have to check. I am guessing the connections at crossovers were messed up.

Satish check the wiring. When you say left is it one speaker or from both the front and back left?
try using balance and fad to pinpoint the exact speaker.
It could be due to something else too and we can see accordingly.

You had better hold on to your hat for this reply.

When stereo recordings were just out, most studios were so excited that they would pan entire instruments to one side. This was particularly most noticeable in some early beatles albums.
My dear Satish, the few beatles songs you have with the vocals completely in one channel, were recorded that way.
Now I am going to double up and laugh HAHAHA.

@Sam/ Navin: I have heard quite a few no of regional songs where the female vocals is comin from the left channel and the male from the right channel.

Aint that right from a normal listening perspective!??!
It gives a distinct stereophonic experience :-)

Congrats on your upgrade, Satish.

Why don't you consider Blaupunkt HUs? You will have at least 3 models to choose from, at a 10k budget. Else, I think a Pio with B&W would be the best bet.

Yes a lot of early beatles albums were first recorded in mono. later they shifted to dual mono before they moved to stereo. In fact I use some of these recordings to test for cross talk.

OT: Especially true of the music from my era it was said that the better the music the worse the recording. If you listen to some of the old Fleetwood Mac (when they were a Blues Band), Beatles, Chuck Berry, CCR, Jimi H., etc.. you'll know what I mean.

yes and Blau and Sony can also be considered (along with Kenwood and Clarion).

URGENT:

I need the socket that should be wired behind a headunit to fit the stock wiring socket of the Fiat Palio. Most of the installers here do not know what I am asking for and recommend that I cut off the stock socket provided by Fiat ... pls help! What should I be asking these guys for?

You should be asking for the Harness, the wiring harness.

Hi Guys,

I searched the thread, but couldn't find the answer to my query. I just picked up a 2nd hand Palio 1.6 (sold my Zen Carbon, Delhi members might remember it - MP number). I want to know what is the speaker size of the stock locations. I understand there are six. I dont want to put speakers on the tray, can't handle the rattle.
Was thinking of a Pioneer Mp3 HU (nothing fancy - entry level)
Round coaxials on the doors (good brand - JBLetc)
Decent speakers in the rear factory slots

Any suggestions? Looking at a budget of between 10-15K, w bill/warranty.

Not too big on loud music, just want clarity.
Maybe get a woofer and amp later - only if required, I am not big on bass.

I was happy with my Zen setup - Sony MP3 HU, round on the doors and 6x9s on the rear tray - all Sony. Just want some entertainment in traffic.

My ICE knowledge is very basic, and much of it is from the Forum. Pls help guys.
