my player output is 22rms
now POWER=VOLTAGE*VOLTAGE/RESISTANCE
the voltage here is Vrms
Vrms = Vmax/1.414
22rms = V(rms)*V(rms)/4
88= V(rms)*V(rms)
V(rms)=9.38
V(max)=9.38*1.414
= 13.26 volts
this means that the output of my cessate player is +/-13 volts
+13 for +ve peak
-13 for -ve peak

Correct me if i'm wrong....

if your HU can put out 22W rms it would be a great HU. the best HUs can put out 6-8W rms. now take those numbers and do your maths. besides the 22W is at 4 ohms , the input resistance of a power amp is in the order of 10K ohms.

I would get an amp for the sub. I suppose a Sony would so since low frequency distortion is not so easily heard.

1. there are multiple types of distortion some irritate the ear more.
2. some distortion more prevalet in the bass, other distortion is more prevalent in the mids
3. the ear's sensitivity to distortion is different at different frequencies and seem to mirror the Feltcher - Munson curve.

but as a sweeping statement Vivek is on the right path.

very right the i/p resistance is as hign as 10k or it can be even more
the o/p resistance is ypur speaker

In continuation with my earlier post, i need some help.

The system sounds great but at higher volume the speakers can't handle the bass well, So is there a cheaper way to get better base?
I mean can putting just a sub without amp do ?? coz as it is the system has settings for sub woofer.

Also how much does an iPod connector costs & where can i get it ?(Iam in pune)

Thanks

Hey Pal,

You CANNOT put a subwoofer without putting an amplifier.

I think you need a 4 channel amp. But before that try fiddling with your audio settings. For starters, like de-selecting the loud function. Then fiddle with the lows and mids and if the problem persists then you have to go in for an amp.

Personally, I would say using the HU to power a sub is a big NO NO! With a 4 ch amp you can run all the four speakers and the sub. You will lose the fader option though. You could get a 4ch amp for around 4k.

I know about fiddling with the loud options & stuff but its kinda buggy to change settings for every song :|

& am kind of crunched right now to do the entire sub & amp thing :( so was asking for a work around. what about 2 way amp how much would that cost ??

Btw any info on the iPod connector ??

there is a i pod plugin( a hardware) which when connected to i pod transmitts music at FM station with gr8 quality. gonna cost you a lot but
2nd cheaper option is to use a cessate jugad
there is a cesste which has a head phone type pin at its end. u connect that pin to pod and insert the cesste in player, works well
chinese version 45rs. branded cesste rate-ask KPZEN( bhpian he uses it)

Dude what model? Maybe it has an aux input. If it does then no special cable necessary, just an ordinary stereo EP to 2 rca. Fm xmitters not so expensive last i looked either.
