Hi SAM,

yesterday i went to Elegant (Lajpat Nagar), this is what i was offered by them.

Components(Front)JBL606cs = Rs.7000(with b&w)
Coaxials(Rear)JBL 2-way = Rs. 2500(with b&w)
Sub Tube JBL1200T = Rs. 5700(with b&w)
Amplifier: Sony504, 4-way = Rs.5500(with b& w) =4500(w/o bill) Assem, you mentioned its priced Rs3500 without bill??
Sony502, 2-way =3300(with b&w) and 2850(w/o bill)

Wiring: he said Imported, don't remember the brand: Rs.1600/-

Sam, Aseem !! are the prices ok ?, or can i get some further cut/discount, because i have not bargained till now, i simply asked him to give me prices.

I also heard the JBL Components powered by a JBL Amp. and a pioneer HU(5750), and the first word came to my mind was "Pristine Sound" , then i tried Alpine system with Alpine Amp and Speakers, i did not like the sound, and same happened with Sony setup. I want to go for a Sony HU, but i did'not like the sound, is it because of Sony speakers? Mr. Kapil(Elegant) said even if you connect JBL speakers with Sony HU, u won't get similar sound what you are getting with JBL Compo.+Pioneer HU combination, Is it True?

arrey nothing to surprise yaar..its done..actually im running the old setup that was in my zen in the alto..actually the installer whom i went to had wired everything so badly that i decided to check it out myself..the problems were as follows..the 6x9's and twetters(at the front) were wired in parallel and were connected to only two channels on the HU...hence the patehetic low bass,no clarity sound..actually got quite a headache listening to it..hadnt taken a drive in the alto since the system was installed so didnt quite figure out how it was installed until yeterday when my dad complained that he would throw the system out..it was that bad..

so after a couple of phone calls to vivek and asking which channel was for which colour of wire started the experiment..1st try the entire system plays way better but on using the fader and balance found out that when i faded to the rear the sound came from the front and when i faded to the front the sound came from the rear..so had to swap the conections..after i did another small mistake in the wiring..when i set the balance to the right the right 6x9 worked whereas the left tweeter was working..so had to make that correction and now all the speakers are set properly and are working really fine..well i guess it was high time i assembled a system all by myself..studying E&C gave me just be the motive to take things into my own hands and the inspiration from navin and vivek(after seeing his home DIYed setup) just urged me further..btw plannign to change the entire wiring to belden or audison..checked if the speakers had been wired out of phase etc etc..in short i ripped the entire system off and did then redid all of it at the same time correcting all the mistakes and also by learning from a few that i made..

still a few worries.. the alto is running the 6x9's not on a parcel tray but in small boxes that are fitted to the two sides at the rear..these boxes are designed so badly that there is quite a evident gap thru which the sound is leaking thru..as if this wasnt sufficient the two 6x9's are facing each other so the sound is getting cancelled out and still is sounding a bit bad and no bass whatsoever though the clarity has improved immensely since how it was before..so planning to get a mdf tray and plonk the speakers in sometime over the weekend..so will keep u guys informed on it..

PS : navin any suggestions on stuff that i should keep in mind before doing a install and the likes..other gurus pls do chip in with ur views..
btw viveks thanks a lot for the timely guidance..hope to see ur car and listen to it with the amp installed sometime soon (that would be no sooner than the end of this millenium im sure)..what say vivek ..

Yea it is gonna cost a lot. But its definetly worth it ehh
And yea I've got a Palio. I hope it fits in the boot...

And do I need a Cross-Over or something??
hhhmm..that sure is going to cost quite a lot..btw why crossover ???
ur amp will have bass boost and LPF to take care of it all..just get ur sub and amp and connect them with some good cabling..u dont have to worry much about the rest other than the available boot space in ur palio..

keep things simple.

1. run power and speaker wire down one side fo teh car adn RCA cables down the other side. make sure they dont run nex to each other.

2. 6x9 in the rear and some coax or components in the front powered with even a simple 4 ch. amp can make for a decent system in a small car like the alto.

well navin as of now the car is being used by my dads company..so didnt want to spend on the audio system on it..just some nice music to drive with thats it..so using my previous setup that was in the zen..that is :
1. sony 5510 HU..
2. sony 6937 at the rear in small supposed to be sealed boxes yet u cant call it sealed because of the wide gaps..
3. sony tweets up front thats it..no RCA's being used currently..using the HU's amp to run the speakers with some local wiring the previous installer had used..planning to upgrade them later..

Thanks Sar :-)

The 5750 costed 7400 to me, The Sony's 1350 & the Pioneer rears for 2450. The parcel tray costed 1200 bucks(its a direct fit with no screwing arnd ) plus quite heavy so gives decent bass effects :-)

Err umm didnt get the mini-vivek part the
