loctite makes a lot of glues and sealants. in one of my previous avatars i worked for them. Why Loctite Corp even owns Ducttape.

We use Loctite 243 and 262 on the South Pole!

hi sam/navin,
i'll be getting my ikon 1.6 this week end,
they have offered me Sony Xplod MP3 player and 4 speaker. I'm not sure of the speakers config, i think it'll be 45 W, and the make im not sure... i would like to know if i need to change the speaker to some thing better or is it ok if i just put in an additional sub + amp for the woofer. i haven't seen the stuff work, so will have to wait till this weekend to get a clear sound.

"A clear sound" lol nice one.

AK, if you can, drop the sony speakers. Dont take them and then exchange them. In any case, the original uncut size for an ikon is a rather wierd 5X7 and sony doesnt make them. Only a few speaker specialists do. To the best of my knowledge only JBL currently has a product that fits in the rear of an unmodified ikon. (gto8626e) Blaupunkt USED to have a 5X7, but dont anymore.

Most people find it easier to widen the 5X7 to a 6X9, or mount a spacer to make the fit.
Mids and highs are an integral part of your sound. Just adding a sub and amp to bas speakers is not the answer. I'd rather you got better speakers to start off with and then add a sub+amp if you like later.
I have no complaints with the Sony Head Unit.

no AK pls stay away from this deal..its not worth more than 11k (without B&W that is) this deal..the speakers ought to be 6937's if its sony and the HU is surely a 5510..ask for a cash discount and u can get better stuff and choice out here in the market than being ripped apart from these dealers..well how much are u willing to spend for a start if u decline this offer..that should help u getting u some suggestions on what u should be looking at..

thanks guys,
the deal is something like this;
they give me the HU as a dealer extra. i had to bargain for one as they would only gimme a CD player and no MP3. so i think i'll just settle for that! but i know the speakers won't be good. they seem to be of an odd size, like sam said it's prolly 5X7 i wouldn't mind going in for a complete revamp on the audio except for the HU. say what guys,
AK

well AK if the HU is a 5510 ul surely have a few probs to start with..its a good HU nonetheless but has only 2 preouts..so connecting front,rear speakers along with a sub will be the prob..for a good combo ul need a HU with 3 preouts to get the best out of ur setup..im sure sam will add to this..

dont get fooled by all these commercial gimmicks, loose motion blades and all. Doesnt help the sound. Just find out what the HU is costing in the market too.
