I have installed Mutant component speakers in my Indica Vista. Very Impressed with them. But wanted the Gurus Hers to compare between Mutant , JBL , Polk and Nakamichi components. I have Mutant components and Sansui Sub with Amplifier installed on my Vista.

I've never heard of Mutant in my life. Neither did I know Sansui was making car subwoofers.
This is going to be a fun thread.

Edit: I googled Mutant car audio and this is what their website has to say about their products.

Quote:

Mutant's Theory of Mutation is a closely guarded secret, it states that all sound is related and has descended from a common cone: the amps and the subs, the speakers and the head units -- all related!. Mutant's theory presumes the development of sound from "The Magnet" and stresses a purely naturalistic (undirected and heavy on the bass) "descent with modification". This means , complex sound systems evolving from more simplistic ancestors naturally over time. As random genetic mutations occur within a sound system's genetic code, the beneficial mutations are preserved because they enhance the listening experience -- a process known as "bass selection." These beneficial mutations are passed on to the next generation. Over time, beneficial mutations accumulate and the result is an entirely different organism (not just a variation of the original, but an entirely different creature).

Umm. Wow.

I liked them much better than jbl or the polk. Very clear . The mid frequecies are so well captured that it captures your imagination. When you hear songs in these u understand what you miss in others. but still I wanted a comparison from people who have been using car audio and are much more experienced than me.

Sound is subjective and that is why it is hard to understand this.

Baburajs, I am sorry but I think you will be disappointed because the only people who can compare is those who have heard all those products.

To the best of my knowledge you would currently be the only BHPian to have heard all Sansui, Mutant, JBL, Polk and Nakamichi car speakers.

Why don't you post your listening experiences?

Ok will do this. As you said preference for sound is very subjective. Will try to jot down my experiences and preferences here.

OT I did not know Sansui had launched car audio. Baburajs nice find.

Can you post pics of your install.

Sam - nice run up to tomorrow. :D

I've seen some Sansui TV subs ( the ones that used to fit on top of TV's ) used in local space saver installs , like under seat etc

John, please do not quote me out of context and then tell me not to be snobbish.
If you read further you will find that I am encouraging a listening experience as I have none with those products.

If you read correctly into my first statement, nowhere is my "This will be a fun thread" related to Sansui specifically. I simply stated that I did not know that Sansui made car audio and I meant it.

And when I read mmjgmmgmjgm's statement, I don't see snobbishness either.

So let's read without being presumptuous shall we?

My Sansui Subwoofer is a combination of SubWoofer and an Amplifier. And it goes below the seat. Its is installed below the drivers seat and has very competent thump.

Ok, I think we are on the same page now.

Arrey if you remember Sansui colour TVs had a removable sub that used to fit like a horrible hump on top of the television.

It used to have 2 6" drivers inside and was made of plastic and sounded bad. Some people would fit that under the seat of their cars to save space. That's what greenhorn was trying to say.

OT - did some googling, this had also come up in some home audio forums I'd been browsing - seems Sansui made some some pretty good old-school audio receivers...havent heard or heard of their car ausio though.
