I always wanted to have bluetooth enabled in my car for easy use of mobile phone.

However, the readily available devices were way out of my budget. Then came this DIY.

The idea is very simple. I have used a buletooth handsfree like this

When the device is dimantled, this is what is inside. My idea is to connect the cut speaker wires to a 3.5mm jack and then into the AUX-IN of the music system.

After attaching the cable for a 3.5 mm jack. Sorry, actually forgot to take the pic after attaching the jack

The place where the device is stuck using double sided glue tape.

My problem now is charging the device. I have to use the existing USB port that always has my USB stick when driving. A USB hub doesnt work as per the pioneer manual. I did a lot of thinking and found out what are the 4 terminals in a USB and which one is for the power. For now i am charging with the USB port normally. In the next couple of days i will connect the power terminals of the existing USB port to a new USB port. And, can use the new port for charging.

Cost of the bluetooth handsfree was Rs 500/- as per the box in which it was packed. But i was lucky to get it free when i bought my phone.

Now when I get a call, I change the source on the headunit to AUX-IN and Answer the call agree:

Any ideas and inputs from your end???

else you can use the 12 v output and use a seperate adapter for that :)

Fantastic. Although I have never had the use for talking while driving this is a great idea for all the young ones out there.

Brilliant one my friend. TBHPian of the day! :D

oui!! me dumb, but what is the thing in the first pic??

Means - a better description would be appreciated!!!

@shreyasma : A very innovative idea. I never would of that anything like this. Install looks clean.how is the bluetooth headset's mic's reception. Is the person on the other side(the caller or call receiver) able to hear you clearly?

Great DIY! Hats off to you, shreyasma!

@backseatdriver, that is a bluetooth headset (the kind we use with a cellphone) in the first pic.

Good work Shreyasma the job is nicely done, did you think of any other place to keep the Mic for a better reception

Thanks everyone. Am more than happy to see so many posts in just few hours

There are no issues with the reception of the microphone. And it is also stuck in such a place that the mic's facing the driver.

Few mins ago my wifey and i were speaking to a relative. And the other side person was able to hear both clearly.

I had called my friend during the test fit and asked him how different my voice was. His reply was - I am feeling you are in a closed silent room. are you in the bathroom???lol:

@ shreyas : thats a fantastic one man. May the tribe (DIY) increase. It was very nice of you to share this experience. Thank you friend for such an economical and simple solution. cheers:

shreyasma,

nice work dude.. brilliant idea. How does the whole volume level matching happen.
i.e. is the volume level correct or u need to pump up or pull down the volume when u select aux1.

How does the name BLUETOOTH show when u select aux1. is it a setting that u can rename source name in the HU

So do you answer the call with your phone, or with the bluetooth headset? Either way, isn't it inconvenient?

awesome DIY work. Should help many with spare Bluetooth headsets around. BTW I wonder how you start the calls? using the phone or the Bluetooth headset? is it convinient pressing the button behind the steering wheel?

absolute stonker of a DIY!
one of the best and most useful DIYS ive seen. congrats and keep up the good work, very inspired to do the same.
only one question. does it mean one has to switch from music listening mode to the aux mode as soon as the phone rings"?
