Blaupunkt Bahamas MP34 query

Hi all,

I have a Blaupunkt Bahamas MP34 headunit. The specification sheet of this says:

Amplifier
4 x 18 W RMS power
4 x 45 W Max. power

Aren't these two implying the same thing i.e. maximum sound output of the HU?

Auxiliary input - There is no AUX input in the front (on the faceplate). So how can I attach a USB pen drive or iPod using the AUX input? What cable/adapter would I need?

4-channel Preamp-Out (2 V) - What does this mean?

Telephone auto-muting - How do I use this function?

Codem® III+ tuner - What is this function?

Also, Can I get a steering remote control for this model? If yes, does anyone know what is the model/part no and price for the same?

Thanks a lot in advance!

No. RMS is the figure you should look at. The other is PMPO / Max power which means that you can get that kind of power in spurts.

If it's not in the front it will be in the rear. Your installer should have given you a cable for it. If not, ask him for it. You can't attach a USB pen drive to Aux-In.

Does your HU have bluetooth? If so, it means that the music will mute when you pickup a call form your HU through bluetooth. If it doesn't have BT, then there would be a button that mutes the music.

Hi,
The Aux-in is at the back. You need to buy a blau aux-in adapter(that damn thing costs around 600Rs) and then you can connect your other source of music. For using iPod I guess you can use a stereo pin at the earphone out of the iPod and then connect the other end to the Aux-in adapter but there'll be some DIY you need to do.
That 4 channel pre-amp output means you have 2 pre-amplified left and right channel which can used as input to an external amplifier.
There is one Blaupunkt steering mount remote which is called RC-10.It's approx 1800Rs I think.

2. If USB Pen drive is to be connected to the Bahamas MP34, We have Bluetooth Interface cable ( Part No: 7 607 545 500 ). With this Interface we can connect
easily USB Pen drive.

3. Telephone Auto Muting:If your head unit is connected to a mobile phone thr. interface, the car radio volume will be muted as you pick up the phone. This needs an

I have never struggled to source something as much as my Blaupunkt RC-10 Steering Wheel Remote Control. I must have called pretty much every Car Accessory/ICE Store in Bangalore and none could help. Some even said Blaupunkt has closed down. Sent a mail to Bosch and got no response. I made some calls to Calicut, Kerala as I do recall seeing a Blaupunkt Store a long time ago. They at least knew of it and gave me some hope that they will receive it. I could not wait. My phone calls finally landed up with some dealer in Coimbatore and i finally got my hands on a RC-10. It cost me Rs. 1800 including shipping and was a boxed pack.

Did the installation myself. There is a Installation guide with good graphical illustration but as I did not follow it to a "T", ended up spending an hour on something that should have taken less than 15 minutes to fix. However with all the struggling, pushing & pulling I did not break anything. Phew... Some pics of my RC-10.

even teh RMS figure is not complete. Ideally the spec shoudl read something like this
10 W rms all 4 channels driven, 20-20kHz, THD < 0.1%.

Usually when they just mention a "20Wrms x 4" figure I assume that it is using a single sinewave of 1khz and at 10% distortion (much less stringent that 20-20kHz and 0.1% distortion).

Hi I am getting a Bahamas next week, I have couple of questions,

Is it true that it can have a USB pen drive connected to it through some cable?

It has 2 pre outs. i have Hertz DSK 165 in the front and sony coax in the rear and 2 JBL sub woofers, i was idealy looking for a HU with 3 pre outs but some one told me the rear can be split in to two using a splitter cable.

so my question is if i split it can i select low pass filter options from the HU without making my rear coxas double up like another pair of sub woofers?

I am not familiar with your model, the pre out splitter or if USB is possible through some extension cable.

As for Pre Outs, the case with my Blaupunkt Hamburg MP57, it has a pair of pre outs, front & rear but the rears terminals are not RCA. You have to buy a adapter cable. It could be the same case with a Bahamas. I got mine through Mandovi Motors, Wilson Garden, Bangalore. They stock all the required cables for Blaupunkt.

I have limited knowledge in ICE but as per my knowledge preouts are always RCA cables, The adaptor you are talking about is a highlevel output to RCA converter, this happens incase you have just one preout(usually sub) and you want to connect an amp for front and rear.

No, @pramodkumar, that is not true. Blaupunkt brings out Pre-out in the regular rectangular connectors at the back and one has to use an adapter cable - nothing wrong with that. One Pre-out is usually = Front L+R, not sub.

High-level to RCA converter is a completely different unit. Not needed for Blau HUs normally.
