Im no expert, you are the guru sir,you must be knowing.

Btw what kind of problems you had? You got 156db or something when you tested with IDmax as to what i heard.

The probs with idv3 initially was the coils were not properly connected or something,The connectors were not of good quality, the setting from the amp.

Things like port size, box size etc etc do matter also,I think gunbir can help with the details.

Anyways, its something i shared because i felt the change in ID's performance,I really dont think this the thread to talk about stegs being underatted or overrated.lIts ok if you dont like ID products, whats the point of flaming me for it

power handling is a function of box tuning. A sub in a small sealed box will handle more power than the same sub in a large ported box.

Maybe it was tuning issues or the box was not right. Another possibility being Italians not complimenting Americans

Doesn't the sound of the woofer change if the box is not according to the specs?

The box is made as per the spec's mentioned i believe, and its ported

I saw this in the ID Forums yesterday: Id Is In The Lead!!!!!! - Image Dynamics Forums
Wow !That is good news.ID is really leaping over its competitors.

Just read about the ID vs others !

CAR AUDIO & ELECTRONICS Magazine's "Fullrange System Roundup" review. They compared the Image Dynamics's entry-level CTX65 (6.5" co-axial speaker) to a host of others (9 to be exact) and the iD speakers came out as the overall winner. It's nice to see that our $169.00 "entry level" CTX co-axial speaker beat the $549.00 JL Audio speaker.

Speakers compared were:

- Image Dynamics CTX65 - $169
- JL Audio C5-650x - $549.95
- Kenwood Excelon KFC-X1710 - $240
- Panasonic CJ-DA1633U - $69.95
- Realm LS6cx - $199
- Eclipse's SP6510 - $169.99
- Exile's XT65 - $300
- Critical Mass SS5 - $199.95
- Orion Cobalt CO650 - $69.99
- PowerBass L-6502 - $89.95

JL @550$ vs ID @ 170 $

Navin Ji can any 250 rms driver take 700 rms (that is three times the power), in any kinda of enclosure.

If yes then what is purpose of the company rating the driver

I presume the company would have rated the driver when it is run in free air or infinite baffle. That is the only situation where the driver would require the least power.

What do you mean by "trouble"?If the steg amp is under rated, then it should have been easily able to run the idmax!!If it was having problems running the idmax,it could be quite possible that the steg amp is overrated and wasnt giving 1200w rms!

What is this overrating and underrating stuff going on here? Are we discussing Baleno and Palio again? Or butter chicken vs omelette?

No? But frankly speaking, why should we always have an LBM product criticised? He knows his audio too good and it's better we don't take Panga with him. What say?

I find this reviewer very lame, Why were speakers from good brand which are good at it are not added here like Hertz, Rainbow, DLS, Illusion, Morel, Focal, RF, CDT, etc ???

I second that. No point taking panga with him or anyone else. This forum is a good resource and we should assume that whoever has bought or prefers a particular product, has done sufficient research in their respective capacities.

Btw, what is "an LBM product"? One that I know of is a sweet little toddler.
