Today the lcd worked fine all day. Multiple efforts seems to have worked.
Cpu is now at 1.6Ghz and 1.2v ( its noticeably slow but i dont mind considering price of new lcd)
Lcd is powered by M3 ( was bit scared to load it with lcd current)
The blower fan pushing all air towards behind of motherboard.(Rs850 has helped)
Installed 4 port belkin usb hub. have to give it additional power. will use the car charge.
Bought a headrest lcd for 2500.

i've been looking for an economical gps receiver myself...alas!

the best i've found is GPS Devices | GPS Receivers | GPS Trackers | GPS Mobile Phone Tracking Software Store Title - ChipSilicon - Electronics Store India . in my opinion, not one item is worth its price tag.

whats your budget anyway?

All these receivers are more than expensive, If i ship a globalsat GPS receiver through EBay, its costing me around 2.5k.
No budget as such but i want it for a better price than what I'm getting in Ebay.

Yet another CARpc project!

Hello fellow BHPians!

I am working on my very first carputer project. Below you'll find details. Since this is my first I'll be out here seeking constant help & advice.

I'm sorry I won't be able to post pics since I'm bed ridden. Its been 8 months now. Spent 3 months in the ICU with a tube in my neck, now I'm home and on the sure path to recovery . I can't walk, but I just started using my hands a little. Anyways this project serves well by keeping me busy and my spirits up.

HARDWARE - DECIDED

Bro if you ask me, 2.5k is the best you can get (considering value)

Try: GPS Dongle With GPS Receiver(SZC808) - US$ 21.99

And the Globalsat gps receiver you're talking about - BU353/355?

You have listed down almost all the things to start the carpc project.
About the FE, I have used RR and CF, both are nice, RR being free.
You can check with iride for automotive PSU.

Which car is it going to be?

All the best with your project!
Get well soon.

Hey!

The car is a Honda City ZX Gxi. Regarding the front end, I think I'm going to settle with iCT. Its not only easy to use, but also integrates with third party applications easily. I am still experimenting. If not satisfied, I'm going to settle with CF.

Any ideas for GPS software?

Cheers!

Hey Prometheus, Congratulations on your carputer project.
Use a 160w or more powerful PSU depending on your usage.
You get different types of powersupplies (m2,m3,m4 etc), M2 powersupply has cables to power your mother board where as the M3 and above don't, They directly go into the 18pin socket on the mother board. So depending on the space constraint decide on what suits you the best.
