Hi all,

A little story about how this all happened...

blueraven, your guessed it quite right, as i discussed about DD with you. The sub that you guessed i a DD9100 series woofer . This series is totally dedicated to SQ (800 watts RMS). They are not used for SPL purpose.
The 3500, 9500 and 9900 (Z series) are the ones used for SPL competitions. The one that i have are 1200 watts RMS.
I never really had hardcore plans to upgrade....life was good with those GT4-15.....until my brother calls me from US and says "Car audio is cheap here!!" He got prices for kicker, JL, MTX..and a lot of other brand....So we decided to upgrade.

He started looking for a installer in Texas, US. Doing some internet search, he came to know about "Custom sound works". He has a workshop and everthing. My bro spoke to him about all the above brands that i mentioned, and he told him to wait and come for a car audio show which was just around to corner that time. Its in that audio show where he displayed his cars having Digital Designs woofers with crossfire amplifiers. My bro was like "The system was INSANE....never heard anything in my life before like that".. Saab kuch suna, and we decided lets see if this DD fits in our budget.

I must admit, all of it was way out, totally way out of our budget.. But somehow since my bro started having good contacts with with installer, and knowing he is from India....he gave us a some discounts, and we also stretched our limits...Initially we ordered Two DD3515 15" woofer. Problem was that the recommended box of one DD3515 was very hard to put in the boot.....forget two 15". So settled in for DD3512. Box for these two woofers to also huge...it will be eating up the entire boot space from foot to head.

Box: Its has been strongly suggested by DD to go in for a ported Box, with 1" MDF.
Width x depth x height (inched)= 34" x 18" x 14"
Its gonna be center ported box with length of the port as 19".
Depth of the port being 15" and where the port bends is should be 3". So 15" + 3" + 1" (MDF thickness) makes it a 19" port. The installer also suggested that the port endings inside the box shouldn't be sharp. They have to rounded off as it gives better movement of air and better sound. So no sharp edges in box, everything needs to be rounded. This technique is tested by him self and he uses such boxes across his installs.

Woofers: As i said, these are DD3512eD4 woofers. Its custom build and handmade. It took 3 weeks for the woofers to be made and delivered to my bro.
DDAudio Digital Designs Speakers Made in the USA
Specification:

Installer asked us for how many spiders to be put in the woofer.....and after some discussions with him it was decided 5.

Amplifier: As you guys know we started with the kicker zx2500.1.....but eventually had to change due to ohms problems. Frankly speaking, i never gave a though about DD M3 as it was totally out of our budget.
Simply just consider this, cost of a single DD M3 was much greater intact almost 500-600$ more than the entire system that we decided initially. But then...socha...bhaad main gaya sab kuch lets go for the DD amp.

Specs for the amp:

DDAudio Digital Designs Amplifiers

Series: M
Input Sensitivity: 0.2V- 8V
Variable pass filter:------
Subsonic filter: 10 Hz- 50 Hz at 24 db/Oct

Finally...it was just wait, wait and wait for these darlings to arrive to India....BTW it gives great feeling to get a brand First Time to India!!!

Thanks for reading

I was at Santacruz today and visited FM Drive. Met Mr Pankaj, very soft spoken person. I gave him some of the references from out forum and thus he was happy to help me with the install.

Install goes something like this:

1) Complete damping.....All doors + double damping in boot + roof + floor + pillars + parts on bonnet .

2) New performance battery....Pankaj will call me and tell me the brands.

3) BIG 3.....although he was not much aware of this....but with help of Ajay bahi i feel we can pull this off too.

4) Box as per specified.

5) Install rear component....brands are Apline / MB Quarts/ Morel Audio / Audible Dynamics (co-axials two way component speaker).

Total cost for install goes to 45,000 approx.....

Wanna go very slow and steady on this setup as i want each and everything to be PERFECT...

I guess we might start off with damping or probably box building some time very soon

Hello Bro? MB Quart? Horrible Dynamics? All this does not give you Shobha.
In fact Shobha may slap you. Hard.

Amit,
After spending so much on good quality subs and amp why dont you match it with good components as well.
Mb quart the signature series are good but over priced.
have you had a look at Precision power? theyhae good components.
also Boston is nice as well the Z6 series
then of course the focal brand cant go wrong
