Hyundai is already king of gadget-on-wheels segment and now they are taking it to one step forward.

Where are the crash test agencies? Cars are already loosing some key physical controls over the touch screens but still getting passed by the testing agencies. Even they are rewarding 5 stars to cars like Verna with unstable bodyshell just on the basis of some secondary electronic safety features. I am sure they will have some lame logics for passing this big screen car as well.

All they are trying to sell more electronics to make more profits and making the car unnecessarily more expensive where they now have zero concern about actual safety. Everything is now for business and profits.

I am not worried about the people using such dangerous toys, but I am worried about myself and others who are actual drivers and are already on the mercy of such screen addicts.

To me, this dash seems to be a direct lift from the new Mini, minus the central display. But who knows what Hyundai will do when it comes to implementation.

Im not a luddite I think.

But I would prefer some tactility and interactivity via the old style knobs and switches and buttons. There is an oddly satisfying feel to those.

It would indeed be pity for ‘all the world to become a screen’ and for us, as a reasonably intelligent species, to be relegated to mere touch and scroll operations.

Oh no. This is where we are heading in the name of technology and features.
It is too early to judge this, but it will obstruct the driver's vision for sure.

There will be a speedo meter, maps, vehicle dynamics, playlist, and NEWS (do we even need it?). What next, Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hotstar?

They can bring all the new technology they want but do they ever test the UX with actual real people if they are making things better. Almost everyone seems to agree that having complex touch screens have made controls more cumbersome than old style dials. This should be pretty easy to test out right.

While it would be interesting to see what the technology finally looks like, I am only concerned about what happens when there is a hairline crack at the windscreen due to some stone chips from the passing truck and my entire system goes for a toss!

Honestly, I don't mind the windshield being a display, as long as it has only the car related information in there, maybe navigation and nothing more. I like HUDs and I don't think they are more of a distraction than your co passenger. But media on the windshield, miss me with that. It would be an immediate deal breaker for me if that can't be turned off.

I hope there is legislation on what can and cannot be put on HUDs.
